Normal or?

I feel and look somewhat normal. This was until I stepped on the scale topping 170 pounds. I am tall so the fat that i must have is spread out . But I don't feel or feel like i look like i'm fat until i go to a mall or something and see my reflection. I feel like I've been addicted to short-term weight loss self-made fads. Like one week I'll try fasting or only eating some meals or only eating certain foods....etc. Does anyone have advice on a diet that not only works but will keep me coming? :p

There's something unpleasant about the thought of "keeping you coming", but heres my general advice for things like this.

Step 1: Make sure you're not insane. Search Google for "bmi" and check what your BMI is, or get your body fat tested. If your weight is within range, then you're probably not in straits that dire. (I only mention this because you say you're tall - and tall people should weigh more than average sized people).

Step 2: Learn about nutrition like mad. It is not too difficult to maintain a healthy diet. Eating right (that means good food and good proportions) over a long period of time is key to having a sustainable diet that will make you reach a healthy weight level. My quick-tips:

+ Prepare your own meals whenever possible from as fresh foods as possible
+ Eat smaller proportions (making a habit of eating from smaller plates is good. They found that when people choose big plates, they tend to eat 28% more food)
+ Choose poultry over red meat. Low fat, high protein!
+ Make a serious effort to fit in greens and fruits several times a day. I'm personally fond of chicken caesar salads

Step 3: Keep moderately active. At the very least, take some time for yourself and go for a 30 minute walk every day. That's all it really takes, if you're eating right. You will lose weight, and keep it off.

It's really not that tough, and you'll feel REALLY good if you stick with it. Much, much, much better than instant-gratification.
