Hi there!

Little info about myself: I'm 22, weighed in at $350.2. I'm about 5'9" or 5'10". I'm here to start seriously losing weight. I'd like to educate myself on nutricion and more on general fitness. Being a gamer i've found i'm very good with strategy so once I learn the in's and out's I can really generate a great plan for success. I just don't know anything about nutricion and what different types of foods do to your body. I've heard stories of people losing massive weight IE: 150 lbs in 6 months. I also understand losing too much weight too fast is unhealthy. So i'm here to learn how to push myself and lose the maximum amount of weight without putting myself in the hospital. I'm also hoping to learn about new types of foods to eat, different places to shop, and really just learn how to live a healthy lifestyle. I wasn't raised with health and wellness in mind. It was more of whatever was most convenient to feed me and my brothers. We grew up on soda, and fast food. Occasionally eating a homemade meal. I've found myself associating everything I eat with soda, and probably drink 4-10 cans a day.

I'm not sure where to start finding this information, but I do know if you search google for health / fitness / nutricion.. you get blasted with pills and bull$&#*. I dont know what different things like hydroxycut and other suppliments do to your body either, and would like to learn that angle as well. I'm not here to find a pill that will let me drop 50 lbs in a week. I do know that there are things out there that can be beneficial to your diet / workout though.

So, basically hello, and if you have any ideas to start pointing me in the right direction I'd appreciate it. I'm going to try and really process a lot of information in the next 2 weeks or so and then start a thread or blog my goals and progress.

Greetings from a fellow WLF noob ;)

Although I can only really offer you generic weight loss/lifestyle change advice, I know there are many out there who can - and will - do so much more for you. Stick around, Ray - the first real step was deciding you want to do something about the problem.

Might help if you give us an insight into your normal routine. So you're a soda fan - that can be cut down or cut out, entirely your choice. But what about daily food/caloric intake? Do you exercise? Do you work?

Setting a goal can also help members guide you better.

AHi Ray, and welcome to the forum. I would suggest starting a diary in the diary section. That is where the bulk of members visit here. I'd also suggest cutting back on the soda. It's also my downfall so I know how hard it is...lol. Good luck to you! See ya around the forum! :)

Well my daily routine is basically this: 11am-7pm Mon-Friday I work at the store where the most exercise i get is standing lol. I also work there 11-5 on saturdays. Sundays i'm off and usually spend the day with the family. We're working on planning activities like going to chicago, parks, walks, etc. In the mornings I wake up around 7-8 (prefer 8, but having a daughter complicates things haha). Once i'm up I get her set for the day and pound on my heavy bag for a half hour or so. Cereal kicks off my day when I actually eat breakfast. As for lunch and dinner. I eat out tons. Something else that obviously needs to go. I'm hoping to pre cook chicken / fish (hate it, but from what I understand its very healthy and will help shed some weight) and eat them throughout the day. I had a friend visit from out of state and he had recently lost about 100 lbs. He introduced me to i think a soy bean burger patty, only 25 calories per patty. I'm not sure where to even shop for something like that though. I can have roughly an hour or two of free time almost every morning so I'd like to start going to the gym during those times. I'm not really sure what kind of routine to do there though. I used to play football.. and thats about as far as my knowledge takes me... I understand those lifts.. and can do them... but i'm not trying to get back on the football field lol.

Honeslty my biggest motivation is clothes. I'm sick of not being able to shop for a pair of pants because i'm about a size 44. Everywhere i shop doesn't go over 42 :\. I'd really like to lose some weight everywhere, but concentrate on getting rid of this oversized waterballoon of a stomach lol.

Sorry, I have been bouncing back to this on and off for a few hours because i've been busy. I hope the above flows and is understandable. I'll check out the diaries section also. Thanks!
