No Shame For Not Knowing?
MORE SHAME FOR NOT ASKING???
The highest form of thinking...To Ask Questions
Howelse You Learn?
LOOK & LISTEN when Personal Trainers work with their client/member;
Do we see a "healthy-dialouge" of action between PT and Client/Member based upon the workout?
Do we hear Questioning between PT and Memeber/Client based upon why do the exercise, and how will the exercise affect my health?
Or do see the PT stand watch over the Client as he/she go through the exercises without the PT demonstrating proper and IMPROPER perfromance of the exercise?
And do we hear the sound of genuine-interest from the PT in explanation and proper execution of exercises or do hear "do this and do that..."
We have been there one time or another and have witnessed PT and client/memeber lack to having no real-communication in the bettterment of both the PT and member/client. The questioning between PT and client/member is a process of education for the person learning and re-education for the PT.
When I approach people who work with a PT I like to know why they don't ask questions or challenge what is being presented to them in regards to progressive-exercises.
The replies are usually the same or close to it -
- "I don't know what to ask???"
- "He/She sounds like they know what they are doing???"
- "They get paid for training people or that's what they get paid for???"
- "They have a degree/certification???"
- "My friend said to get a PT???"
The above mention are the usuals but the number One reply is:
"I'm Ashame To ASK???"
When members/client are not able to ask and ask the right questions immediately, this tells me that the PT is not "approachable"
the PT is intimidating, the PT is not recognizing the need to create a "healthy-dialouge" with their memeber/client.
So now when I approach PT's and ask questions in regards to what he/she is providing what do think their reaction, Not response, is???
Okay, some of you PT's who reading this are thinking and saying out loud - "It is none of your f-----g business!!!"
But guess what?
Anytime you - the PT are in the public's-eye it already becomes the public's business beacuse you are out in the public even when you in a private faciltiy, you still got people watching.
This holds-true to all who call themselves Personal-Trainers, Wellness Coaches, Fitness Instructors, Healthy LifeStyle Teachers and so on.
When "questioning" arises, we should be honest enough to recognize what we know and what it is we might not understand.
Questioning is the highest form of human-thinking.
Questioning is what sets what is true and also the "false-in-the-truth".
Questioning is closing the gap between useful and useless...thoughtful and thoughtless.
Eh, there is no shame for not knowing but get More Shame For NOT ASKING?
No just accepet and expect because you might later regret by saying, "Ah, I should asked First!"
Aoha for now....
