I've found that I'm most sucessful when it coumes to weight-loss when I'm on a forum, especially when I keep tabs on myself through something like a diary. Also, I love it when I can write down those little moments when I'm successful, I find I'm better when I know I can write about it later.

:waving: Lylith! Welcome to the WL Forum, and to your brand-spanking-new journal!

I see that you are graduating from High School in May - congratulations! This is a wonderful time for you to get your health under control. You've been successful in the past losing weight, so you KNOW you can do it; it seems like possibly the maintenance is what is harder for you (and most everyone!).

I am on WW myself. I am just shy of your height, at 5'4". I began my journey at my heaviest ever weight of 211 pounds. However, you have the metabolism of youth on your side! I am nearly 38 yrs old and have produced two children, which you may find out on your own one day, can wreak a certain havoc on the female physique! :svengo: LOL

Anyway, I find the accountability of the weekly WW meetings to be a great help; not to mention having to keep track of what I eat.

Best wishes on your journey!

Cheers from Canada.

Thank you ABBAgirl!

Today is officially day 1. I think I'm going to use South Beach for the first two weeks, beacuse it's always helped me get rid of my cravings. So. here it goes...

So breakfast has always been a tough one....I don't really like eggs (I'll have them upon occasion), and I dislike oatmeal as well. My favorite breakfast foods are fruit; however, with SB I can't have fruit for two weeks. This morning I had some Canadian Bacon, with a big glass of water.

The scary thing is that I feel full, but I really really want to go back into the kitchen for something else to eat. But I promise that I won't...I need to get over this!

if you're hungry - do eat something -if you're bored - then find something else to do :) but figuring out the difference is a huge step...

Fruit is good for you - probably better for your body than canadian bacon -so you might want to rethink the south beach decision and just go for a moderate amount of calories -that's how SB works anyhow it's cutting back on calories...

Hi Lilyth,

Great that u have started. I couldn't help but to notice u r similar to me in a way, where we just eat not necessarily because we r hungry. Like u said about wantiing to go back in the kiitchen. I do the same especially when I work from home.
Go to get my cup of tea and usually look in the pantry for something to go w/ my tea. Not hungry, just stressing. I definitely find myself eating on emotions whether they are happy, sad, mad, etc.. emotions.

Last week was my first week and happy to say, by writing, yeh saw a difference in my eating patterns. Definitely add that water. Makes a big difference.

Good Luck on what I hope for you as well as me, your lifestyle change. Something that will always be, just like u brush your teeth and shower, that eating healthy & exercising will be considered the same.

Maggie.

Yeah, I'm homeschooled, so the kitchen is a constant temptation for me...and I know that I eat because I'm bored. Or I'll go to watch something on TV, and get something to snack on along with it.

I'm doing good so far today, around 10 I had 1/2 cup of nuts along with a glass of water. Then for lunch I had a big salad and a glass of water.

I'm really working on only drinking water (with the expection of milk in the evening, which is when I like it best). I measured the cup I've been using today, and it's 16 oz. I've had three of those today...so 48 oz!

Hey Lylith,

Great job w/ the water and your snacks! I usually (who the heck am I kiddiing, i just started this)fill a 40 oz glass of water at the start of the day.
Before I can have my lunch, I have had to drank the whole 40ozs. Then after lunch refill it and the same, can't have dinner or go home from work until it's emptied.

Keep up the good work.

That's a good idea with the water, Maggie! I've tried something like that, but it never works for me...I don't know why.

So, today I've drank 70 oz of water. And I'm about to sit down with another glass while we watch "Heroes" so that I don't eat the popcorn my brother has made...so hopefully 86 oz today.

Today went fairly well, the only thing that I was bad about, was having too much rice at dinner...I know I shouldn't have even had some, because I knew as soon as I did...I was going to want to eat the whole pot (for the record, I didn't eat the whole pot :))

It's Advent! And that means, an Advent calendar...and for my family, it's a bunch of little doors that have candy behind them. My siblings and I (Me, a 14 year old, a 10 year old, and a 7 year old) all take turns opening the doors and getting the chocolate (Reese's - my ultimate favorite!) So this evening I went through and took all the chocolate out of the doors I would open, and put it in other doors, so that I wouldn't be tempted by it. There's no way any of them are going to let me take anything from behind their doors, so I think that it's safely away from me now.

Hi Lil,

My kids also have the advent calendar and receive a piece of chocolate each day.

Lil, you have done well. Think about it, do u usually have that much water, probably not. So, great job.

Praise yourself, pat yourself, learn to love yourself, I am sure there are many reasons. Do this and the weight will melt away.

Don't forget that we all fall off the wagon sometimes. So what. Just means u get back on that wagon and try to learn from your mistakes. what caused u to fall off? Think y you ate what you ate? What emotions were going on?

You can do it. I have a lot of confidence in ya. I am here for ya.
Remember to fill your mug tomorrow, I mean it. t wiill make ab ig dfffernece.

Thank you, that's the sort of thing I needed to hear :) I know I ate too much rice, because it's my favorite side-dish, and I don't think that my mom knew I was starting today, that's why she made it.

So breakfast was difficult, I wasn't hungry at all, and on top of that I made eggs. I tried to make them with some cheese so that they'd taste better - but that really didn't turn out the way that I planned. :ack2: So i just mussled it down, had my glass of water, and I'll have something I like better come snack time. :)

Good Lil,

Make sure you have the water.

pasta & rice r my downfalls too w/ dinner.

I too, have to watch that overeat thing. Just remember the rice will always be there and you can have more tomorrow. When u find yourself going for the second helping, talk yourself out there, tell yourself you can do it. Try to leave the kitchen, go get a good book or some activity that u like to do.

If you have the rice, try to think y and how u feel. Don't beat yourself up.

Lil, set your goals here, right down your food plan. It will help u to see what u r eating and where your weakness or tough spots are. For me, it's evening.
U will see my plan good for the day and then the night. So, now I know those r my issues and I can focus to understand why and what is causing this and then try to work thru it.

Go get your refill on your water.

Yeah, rice is my downfall too. Especially santeria chicken and rice....ugh....so....good...

Great job getting back on the wagon! I totally know what it's like to fall off, but I know you can do it!

I went to go on a bike ride this afternoon - however, the back brakes weren't working very well, and I was going to go ride on the bike trail, and all I could picture was me being unable to stop going down on of the larger hills, and kids swerving around in front of me. So i didn't go. Hopefully I can do something this evening, and at least get a half and hour in.

And here it is right now: the reason that I HAVE to keep a diary in order to loose weight.
It keeps me in line when this happens.
I want chocolate so bad right now...I know where every bad food is in my house right now...and it's all I can do to keep myself from eating it all. I'm willing to through "healthy living" out of the window, just so that i can have something that willl satisfy this craving. Ugh. All rathional thought is down the drain right now, I imagine that this is how an addict feels. *sigh*

Hi Lilyth,

One of the things I do, is have a cup of tea w/ a splenda, kind of helps the cravings.

Also, have reduced pb on a real wheat cracker. Just to pass the sugar craving.

This is my worse time of day too. I came home and wanted something, but u know what, I made myself a protien shake. not much sugar in it but suffices the craving.

Don't give in girl, u have the will power and determination. Go outside and take a walk. Okay, yeh I know, a little cold out now.

So I made it though the day without eating anything bad :D I had an apple with some peanut butter instead of chocolate or something...it worked really well!

Anyways, I made dinner tonight - so no rice, or other dangerous side dishes!!
I made Roasted Red Pepper chicken, which is one of our families ultimate favorites. Here's the recipe if anyone is interested:

4 skinless, boneless chicken breasts
1 (12 ounce) jar roasted red bell peppers, cut into small pieces
1 cup low-fat sour cream
1/2 cup low-fat feta cheese, crumbled

Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350.
2. Mix feta and peppers together in a bowl.
3. Lay the chicken flat, and put some feta cheese mixture on half of the chicken breast. Fold it over and secure with toothpicks. (chicken has to be VERY thawed to do this...pounding the chicken might be necessary, but I've never had to do this)
4. Place in baking pan and cook at 350 for 40 minutes, or until juices run clear.
Optional:
While cooking the chicken, in an electric blender blend sour cream and a few pieces of red peppers. - Makes a good topping, or veggie dip.

I also struggled to get in my water today, but I managed to get in 64 oz. :) Hopefully tomorrow will be just as good!

Hey Lilyth,

Great job, I mean it. I know the struggles. Today was a good day for me too. Had the water and ate very healthy. Though, maybe a little light on my carbs. Actually going to type myself into that site, fitday, I think, can't remember. Had a ton of protien.

Thanks for that recipe, it sounds great. You really should be proud of yourself, because u and I know how tough it is to bypass that sweet. I applaud ya.

I decided to go on fitday as well...
According to it...yesterday, I ate 1781 calories, and I burned 3302 calories!

Today I woke up really late (10:20) I hadn't meant to sleep that long at all, and I was bummed, because I didn't really get any breakfast as a result, :(.
