No idea how to increase endurance

Well OK maybe i have a slight idea on how to do it but I need help! Although I have lost many pounds to my satisfaction and also gained muscle my endurance hasnt increased that much IMP. Tuesdays and Thursdays I just jog to a nice pace for about 30 to 40 min and thats practically my entire cardio workout except for saturdays when I play competitive soccer for most of the 90 minutes most of which I spend with my tongue hanging outside my mouth:drooling1:

I know interval training is probably the way to go but am not sure how to get started.

Hey there, Gustavo!

Why don't you push yourself just a bit more longer or faster everytime...like add 2 minutes each day you go jogging. Or add another jogging day. Or add just a little more distance. That will slowly but surely help build your endurance.

Cut down on soda and fizzy water, as well, 'cause that would inhibit your breathing. If you're unable to breathe as well as you should (like you said your tongue is already hanging out) then you won't last long during your workout.

Hope this helps.

Yea if you're doing soccer you should incorporate sprint training in with your jogging. I know with soccer you can run for 90 mintes straight, but most of it is quick starts and stops. You should try doing some plyometrics as well.

I used to do plyometrics and sprints to train for soccer as well as long distance running. They are completely different beasts. You are probably getting fatigued because your muscles are training for long distance and not short distances.

Give it a try.

step up the pace

I hate running, but it is very efficent. In your 30-40 min rum- see even thinking about it makes me want to drink:D- anyway, I meant run...try incorporating 2 minute sprints where you increase your speed moderately and then slow back down for 5 minutes. Gradually working your way to 2 min on and 2 min off. This helped my climbing and distance greatly

2 days of 30-40 min jogging and a day of 90min intense physical activity in 1 week - your body may not be able to adjust to the difference including the production of antioxidants that are required to balance the free radicals generated during your saturday's intense physical activity. You can try to almost equal your tuesdays and thursdays activity with that of your saturday physical activity so that your body can adjust to its needs.
