No clue what I'm doing, or if it's working.

I'm about 5'10, 240 and have done this: eat a Yoplait Light yogurt in the morning, and then a sandwich and soup (sometimes with chips) for dinner for the last 3 weeks or so. I haven't really weighed myself before or after starting, but people have said they've noticed changed. I've also switched to bottle water, and have been drinking about five bottles a day. They're 24oz, I believe.

Before my food intake was huge;

Breakfest: Sandwich, soup, and chips.
Lunch: Sandwich, soup and chips. Maybe a little snack in between.
Dinner: Hamburger Helper, chips and maybe a bowl of cereal later on.

I ride an exercise bike at 65mph for a half an hour a day, do fifty sit-ups, and walk a lot.

I realize I'm probably not doing this diet correctly, so please.. Let me know what it is I'm doin wrong.

yoghurt, a sandwich and soup is all you eat the entire day??

that's very little, way too little if you ask me. It's no a good idea to starve your body; you burn muscle and once you start eating normally again you'll put weight back on in a hart beat.

i agree with the above poster. how about you try something like a protein shake for breakfast, a protein shake, or maybe an egg beater omelet for lunch, and then a sensible dinner of maybe some fish or chicken, veggies & salad. with fruit for snacks. on this diet you'll lose weight but wont be killing your body with anadequate nutrition.

Could you guys give me (I know this sounds silly) a weight loss plan?

Like.. Actual brand names that I can buy.

Breakfast: Brand Name shake.
Lunch: Yoplait Light Yogurt.
Dinner: Campbell's Soup and a turkey sandwich.

Exercise:
50 sit-ups
etc.
etc.

This is what I currently do for a protein shake;

Optimum Nutrition (affectionately known as ON) 100% whey strawberry flavor with milk and a banana in the blender and blend. hmmm... protein shake garghagrgha... :)

For successive fat loss you need both exercise and proper diet. If you havent been active before, I suggest you start with 3 days/week of 30mins cardio exercise. Eventually you want to be doing 5days/week of 45min cardio. This will give you a nice 2lbs per week of fat loss with a proper diet. Before I get to the diet I just wanna say that if you plan on losing more then 2lbs of weight per week you are definetly going to burn off muscle which is not a good idea.

Stick with drinking plently of water. But in terms of what you should be eating here is what has worked for me and others I have talked to suggest.
Decrease your fat and carb intake and increase your protein intake.
That being said the following are excellent foods:

oatmeal, tuna, eggs, vegtables, soups, brown rice, chicken, turkey, fish, plain yogurt(bio-best brand makes the best)

Like others have said a protein shake is good, but I would not have it in the morning and Id save it for a mid-afternoon meal. In the morning I would have some oatmeal with some berries or a banana.

As well, try to eat 4-6 times per day to have your metabolism running throughout the day. Finally, by what your eating right now you are definetly starving yourself. Using your height, and weight but not knowing your age I calculated that your daily BMR is at about 2300 calories with minimal activity.
That being said I think you should be eating at least 2000 calories to being with. After 6-8 weeks drop that to 1800 calories and stick with that. As well, get yourself a good multivitamin and start taking those.

Im fairly confident that what I just described will help you loss fat and not muscle and water mass. As well, you will be less likely to gain it back on once you reach your goal. Good luck remember that patience is key to successive fat loss. Im always here to answer questions so post away.
