Newly Qualified

I have recently become fully qualified as a gym instructor and personal training. I have always had a good knowledge base in relation to fitness and health and was only a matter of time until I become fully qualified. I recently wrote a post in the Australia & New Zealand forum, regarding the benefits of recreation on society. I am starting up a blog which is a bit dry at the moment, but contains much of the valuable information that personal trainers learn during their journey to being qualified. I am also going to upload some videos soon with some useful exercise and correct techniques. If anyone is interested, feel free to have a look
If anyone would like some help, feel free to ask, or even if anyone has some ideas, I would love some more advice.

That's great :) I am also completing my certificates to become a personal trainer :) I have done my certificate III and am doing my Cert IV in may. not sure if I will start training straight away, might try and get some experience with a mentor first. Goodluck with everything.

That's true. Passed all the exams quite easily. I have been involved and interested in health and fitness since I was a young kid. I have played Australian rules football and basketball at elite levels and participated in many triathlons and swimming events. Parents have both been involved in training and aerobics instruction. So if you are implying I may not know much, I would very much like to assure you that you would be wrong.

My message was pretty clear, mate. There's no need to read into the things I say. My point was and still is that PT certification exams are beyond easy for anyone who has a base level of knowledge in the field.

If you take that to mean you're not qualified to give advice, that's something you have to address personally. I might suggest identifying your insecurities and asking if they're logical or not.

Also, if you're suggesting that b/c you were an athlete you are familiar with the intricacies of the human body, I'd say not. Elite athletes hire strength coaches for this very reason.

You may very well know your stuff. I only respond according to what I see typed on this message board. I know nothing else about you. If you know your stuff, it will shine through in your dealings here.

Best to you.

I do understand that. I want to have a positive effect on the forum and hopefully some peoples lives and have also been gaining some valuable information myself, or finding people to point me in the right direction on particular subjects.

Forums are a great tool for teaching and learning, no doubt. I try and view every single interaction (with professional or client) as if I know nothing at all. Reason being: Every interaction is an opportunity to learn. It's such a dynamic field of study that you can't possibly know everything and sadly many professionals either never start or turn off their learning very early on in their careers.

This is mostly to blame for the quality of perception of the training industry as a whole in my opinion.
