Newcomer looking for motivation!!

Hi Everyone :waving:,

New here hoping this type of forum will help motivate me. I'm 35, 5'6 about 175 pounds, have a 4 year old and a 15 month old (both c -sections), Stay at home mom.

When I was 22 I weighed about 111 pounds, I had an anorexia and bullimea and was at an outpatient treatment center for about 6 weeks. I left the treatment center at about 120 pounds. Was dating my husband, but also running and doing some machines and I was a good 135 for a very long time.

As my career took off and over the course of about 9 years, 2 babies and 7 moves, I have gained quite a bit of weight.

I started running again in Feb. or this year and although I run fairly slow (4.8 on the treadmill) I am running for 35-40 minutes straight 2-3 times a week along with some weights and sometimes the eliptical for 40 minutes.

I however have not lost any weight and am getting extremely frustrated. My opinion is that is has come down to my diet. I eat whatever I want and drink alcohol as well :cheers2:. I don't smoke...

I'm at a point now that I want to lose 30 pounds and have to seriously change my diet as well as to continue working out.

I guess I just need motivation as well as some good tools and tips on food and exercise. I don't really want to hire a PT, because with my kids schedule, it makes it tough..

Thanks!

spend some time readiing the stickied threads -especially in on topic, nutrition and exercise -you'll get a lot of good and useful information.

how much you're eating is going to be your biggest factor in losing weight -alcohol won't kill you long term - inmoderation - as long as those calories fit within your day--

check the stickied threads in nutrition for some guidelines on how many calories you should be getting - keeping in mind there's no real one size fits all number that some tweaking might be necesary.

drinking and dieting.. dont mix but I can relate

Hi there! I am new today to this site not at all new to dieting! Im back down 50 pounds today and came looking for more motivation hard to keep going!
( 50 more to go)I was just gonna tell ya.. as a fellow drinker.. I Do love to party too ..but if you do... You SO need to factor it.. It is a weekness for me so I know if im gonna have a few drinks I have to eat lean and HEALTHY as Alcohol robs you of needed nutrients, and I better pick up the pace the next day.. Its hard, but I try to sweat out what I pour in. and I do notice on weeks I dont drink I lose better I guess you play you pay... Another game I play is for every beer (my drink of choice) ...I try... on a good day to drink a 12 ounce glass of water between..) But what I know I am doing RIGHT is tons of vegies and slowly increasing exercise.. The other thing I think I finally hit on after 30 years of dieting.. and many kids.. Is I am in no hurry.. every day I dont go up on the scales is a good day.. I didnt put it on in 8 weeks and I wont take it off in that time .. I have lost 50 pounds since October.. thats 9 long months so less than a pound a week but its still 50 pounds! Half way to my goal.. I have splurged, and enjoyed holiday dinners, I started with no exercize and am now up to a decent amount.. slow but steady.. I can wait until next July if I have to as long as I don't go up and go down.. even if by ounces.. I think of it as a step to the new happier healthier me.. SO CHEERS.. BOTTOMS UP but factor it! And be prepared to trade off for it.. skip the Birthday cake if your gonna have a couple drinks.. and walk harder tomorrow Good Luck Corinne2950
