Hey everyone, My name is Ashlee. I am 23 and live in FL. I am currently in cosmetology school and will graduate in October. I am currently at the worst I've ever been. I am about 250lbs. I am disgusted with it. I am mentally so motivated, but not physically. I have always been a bigger girl since 4th or 5th grade. When I was working all the time in high school I lost around 40lbs. I was about 190lbs. I was no where near my goal, but I would kill to be that now. I want to be around 150-165lbs. I randomly get so motivated and it dies off so fast. The time I lost 40lbs, I had recently broke up with my ex and lost the weight the unhealthy way. I wouldn't eat. I had one meal a day. I know that it isn't the correct way of doing it. I live with my parents and 2 sisters. They are all tiny, and my house is FILLED with sweets. It is so hard to diet when no one around here helps. If dad makes dinner and I don't want to eat it, too bad. There is nothing in the house that is healthy. I do not work because I am at school all day, and no guaranteed hours to leave. It made it hard to find a job. So I can't go buy my own food. I want to lose some weight before my move. My boyfriend lives in PA and after I graduate school, I am moving up there. He had lost lots of weight and I want to do the same. I know once I am there I wont have anything around the house that is bad for me. But I want to start now. Before my current boyfriend, my last ex, would never cook. We ordered out, ALOT. I gained 20+lbs. After we broke up, I felt disgusting. I need to change before any serious health issues. I am seeking help, I have no friends to help me with this journey. I am thinking about going to a gym. In the plaza where my school is, there is a Planet Fitness. I want to join, and after school, I can go do things in there. I love to walk but FL is so hot that I feel like fainting, or its raining. I guess I need to figure out and ask, What would be a good daily meal plan? I can't have any dairy or fish. Also, I guess what would be a good start for fitness. I guess I need pointers. haha. Sorry for the rambling.

Hi. Good to have you here.
If money is tight, what about exercising at home?
It is always difficult to watch what you eat when you're not buying or cooking. Maybe portion control.
I'm sure others will have better advice.
Good luck
:)

Hugs!

I am also in FL, moved here a few months ago. During the late spring, and I am sure through the summer, I am exercising inside (except swimming). I walk and jog in-place and also around the main part of my home. I bought a Fitbit a month ago and can not talk too highly of it. It is very user friendly and you can easily keep track of your exercise, calories in and burned, water intake, and food. I average 8 to 12 miles per day. It will be nice when autumn comes and I can walk and jog outside again.

Welcome to the forum.

Maybe your parents would shop for healthy food if you offered to do some of the cooking and be the person that cooked it... You could either ask for some items to be added to the shopping list or he could maybe give you some money for you to get it in and cook it... It could be that the food that they are currently getting requires less cooking time and they are busy...

Explain to them that you want to eat more healthily as you are concerned that you may develop health problems. You could even say that you would like to lose some weight so that you have more confidence when looking for a job at the end of your course... Both of these are very good reasons for wanting to lose weight which always slim people may understand...

If you are stuck with the food that they are currently having - it may be worth you seeing if you could prepare your share of the food in a more healthy way... They may be frying things that you could grill... You could maybe not have much sauce if it was high in calories... You could maybe skip desserts... These would all be ways of reducing calories in the food that you eat.

My main exercise during my big project was walking - which costs nothing... It is an excellent form of exercise... If the weather really prevents it - you can do exercises indoors... Jump up and down to your favourite music... there are millions of zumba tracks loaded onto you tube so you could have a zumba session in your living room... some people are able to find all sorts of exercise on their television... celebrities are always releasing exercise DVDs - and you can get some real bargains sold off cheaply in supermarkets...

I suggest that you read the following thread - it may help you settle in and make friends

Good luck with your project.
