Hi

I hope this post finds everyone well.

I have battled with my weight for most of my life.

My BMI is 37 and I am a 37 year old male who currently weighs 123 kgs.

I am an "emotional eater" and from time to time I am able to lose weight through daily physical workouts over a number of weeks / months at the gym. I am also able from time to time to adhere to a proper diet regime.

But these remedies are generally short-term and the weight piles back on, either through lifestyle (I travel a great deal through work) and / or emotional eating. You may also assume that I LOVE food!

So, I have elected to have a gastric balloon fitted this Friday 27th Feb in an effort to a) lose 10 - 15 kgs and b) use the window of opportunity to retrain my eating habits in preparation for life post-balloon.

I guess I wanted to say hi, and in particular seek support for eating strategies whilst on the balloon and beyond.

For now, does anyone have any views / experiences on the gastric balloon procedure?

Thank you

Sasha

Hi
i had my balloon put in on saturday 21st, so still very early days. Today is the first day that i have not been sick.:) managed to have soup for lunch and dinner but i cant tell when i am full, so just having a cup full at a time. i feel bloated all the time at the moment but i am sure that will settle. If anyone has any advice what soft foods i should try this would be helpful

Good luck with all of that and welcome to the forum. When you have your balloon put in, request a Happy Birthday one.

Jamie, thank you for your reply. May I ask, when you were having the balloon fitted, how long did all the prep. and discussion on nutrition and food, what to do and what not to do take? I ask because my doctor has asked me to come into hospital at 5pm! Although I know the procedure is a short one, I was wondering how the long the rest took and whether I would have time to do it all?
