Hi! I've been hunting on the web for the last couple of days trying to find a good support group, and this has been by far the Best!
I have never joined anything like this before, but I am really hoping this will keep me motivated on my weight loss. I am 34 years old, a mother of two, and I'm about 50 pounds overweight!! This is officially the heaviest I have ever been. I need to do this not just for myself but for my kids as well. I feel terribly guilty about not doing activities with my kids. Every summer my kids beg me to take them swimming and I won't do it. I can't handle what I look like in a bathing suit, so I don't take them. I feel very selfish about the whole thing, but I can't seem to find the courage to get in a bathing suit. So my goal is to drop some weight (approx 50 lbs) so I can enjoy the summer time with my children. The more weight I put on the more I don't want to leave my house. I need to break out of the rut I am in a get motivated to lose weight!!!
I have tried losing weight on my own many times but with no real success. I am hoping that with support maybe, just maybe this time it will work.

Hi freezing rain, welcome. I'm new here too, pretty much the same story. I want some support, and accountability. I'd like to lose 40-50 pounds and enjoy myself this summer. This is a good start!

I have 50lb to lose too!! I totally understand how gaining weight makes you stay inside and then staying inside makes you gain weight. You will be in a B-suit in no time!
 
Thanks very much, I sure hope so. Today I am starting my exercise/diet. I plan on going to the gym 3-4 times a week. As for my diet, I haven't really established a real plan other than no junk food and portion control. Hopefully this will be a good start but I guess we will see in a month or so.

i am in the exact same position you are...i only want to drop 25 pounds, but our ending goal weight is the same. i have 2 kids too, and know exactly what you are talking about!! i will totally support your efforts, and hopefully we'll both be out this summer in swimsuits, having a blast with our kids.

Welcome to the forum, there are a lot of us parents with kids (i have 4) who gained slowley over the years.

This year we're gonna kick some butt! :D
 
Wishes, you have done an absolutely amazing job so far!!!!!!Hats off to you!! I hope I can be half as successful. What's your secret?

Anyway...I missed joining the new years challenge by a day, so it looks like I'm on my own until the next challenge. How often do people start new challenges?

no major secret. there arent many secrets in the weight loss world. Just the truth covered up by like a billion scams :D
I get asked a lot so i made a website (link in my sig) if you're really interested in how im doing it.

where do i get one? Am I just missing it?
 
just set a pin number that you will remember
it means you can go back and edit it later on.

Challenges restart about every month. There are 4 challenges at the most going at any one time :D

i clicked on one then went there but it wont show up...just the code is.Can someone say what I can do
 
You need to be using BBCODE not the html code. If you can even just get the image link which is then click on the 'insert image' link when editing your sig. Its the one with an picture type icon , then paste the image url into the box that pops up.

how are your portion controls going? my problem is not portion control...it's the snacking after 7pm. that ruins me!! i don't have a sweet tooth all day, but then in the evening it just goes crazy! well, hope you're doing well, the beginning of a diet is the worst part, getting past all your bad habits and bad food choices.
