Newbie to Healthy Living

Hi All, Last year I decided to turn my life around and did a 180. I had given advice to my mother who's 81 about keeping active since she will probably live to 100 and realized that I'd be smart to take my own advice. So with the help of my family I started going to the gym every evening, quit smoking and changed my eating habits. I'm 57yrs, 5'8" and weigh in at 156lbs. I've lost 40lbs. and gained some muscle, but I still have another 20 pounds to go.

I signed up here to read and see what others are doing to get healthy for the second half of their lives, and get tips on what I should be doing.

To good health!
Susan

Welcome Susan. Congrats on the life changes. Have you ever considered some personal challenges to get/keep you motivated, e.g., a 5K run, 1/2 marathon, marathon, bike century, triathlon, etc.?

I am on the back side of the hill as well (51).
