Newbie to fitness -- Please I need your advice!

Hello everyone!
I'm new to the forums, and I really need some help from you.
I'm a 20 years old, 5'5'' 112 lbs female. I know 112 lbs doesnt sound like too much but it pretty obvious that I put on some ugly looking fat in a last couple of months.. Maybe the reason for not havin too much weight is the precentage of fat? I was never fat, but never an atheltic kind of person and i want to change that. The situation is not very dramatic, but I'm really worried about my looks and overral health situation so I decided to start training and build up a good habit of being a fit and sporty person.. I know, that age of 20 sound like it's kind of late to change a lifestyle and the fact i never did any serious sports or efforts is a bit discouraging for me... I still even don't like to get sweaty (while earlier this was almost a phobia for me :), but i think i really need to overcome some of those things and chance my ways...
So, your advice to me; concerning i do not have a problem with my weight (i think i should go below 108lbs, but i dont know), but with the fat precentage; what would you recommend? Doing cardio or toning and building muscles so they would burn extra fat for me...? I'm not sure how to start and what to base my program on.
Also, a question? Are calf raises enough for toning calves (doing sets until failure).
I suppose I should build some muscle, because I'm not really fat, only flabby, but there is no way I can accurately test bodyfat where I live...
Yes and one other question.. I have pretty large breasts for a girl my size, and truthfull, sometimes the annoy me :) Anyway i wanted to know if training and losing fat would strenghten and decrease a size of my breasts as well?

Thank you all in advance!
Cheers!

Welcome Sunshine ... First off, do you have access to any weights ? What does your diet look like ? At 5'5", I don't think you should be losing weight, but actually putting some on. You could easily reach 120 or 125 at that height and look just fine. Proper diet and training and you can accomplish this.

I agree that you could be 120-125 at your height and still look fine. I'd say you should start strength training, it'll help you tone up and be less flabby. You really shouldn't need to lose weight at this point, just gain muscle/lose fat. There's tons of threads about this on the forum, so look around.

Tnx for your answers guys!
Anyway sorry if my english is bad, i'm not from an english speaking territory :)

So, you agreed on that I should build some muscle? How can accomplish that? By making my nutrition more protein-based and excercise with heavier weights with not too many repetitions? Should I need to increase my calorie intake over my daily requirement (would that make me more fat) or just make it more protein based? I do have a gym nearby, but it's kinda hot there now, so i'm ready to invest in dumbells or something. What is enough dumbell weight for a girl??

And also, please somebody anwer my question about calves and breasts...
Sorry for asking so many questions, but these are very important things to me :)
Thank you, and all the best to you!

Sunflower, if you are going to train with weights, use a weight that you can do 8-12 reps with, using strict form and with the last rep being fairly difficult to complete (again with strict form.) I can't give you an exact weight. That, you will learn by lifting. If you are new to training try doing 2-3 full body workouts a week. As far as calves go same thing applies, aim for 8-12 reps with the last rep being difficult to complete. (Don't forget strict form). Do you plan on doing any cardio ?? As far as you caloric intake, do you know what your maintenance level is ?? I would think that if you are training you should consume more than your daily maintenance intake by about 200 calories. It could be more, it is going to be a trial and error porcess til you find what works best for you. There are many other knowledgable folks on here who will help you also. So please keep posting if you have any issues or more questions.

jpc, you forgot her breast issue :p lol. Sunflower, breasts are mostly fat so if you start losing weight as a result of working out chances are your breast will get smaller...

Yes, Sunflower as moonbeam mentioned, breasts are mostly fat, so if you do lose weight, your breasts could potentially become smaller. But if they don't, blame it on moonbeam, ok ?? :D

If you need help on how to perform exercises, here's a link with photograph examples, sorted by what body part you would like to work out:

Good luck!
