Hey guys
I want to lose weight (duh!)
I stand at about 5'11 and weigh around 110kg
Would like to get into shape
Mostly i'd like to lose fat of my stomach and my arms, as they are my problem areas
I would just like some tips on what to eat, which excercises are best
I'm willing to do pretty much anything, except anything you have to do on the floor for too long, as my back isn't too good
What I usually eat (I'm Indian and vegetarian btw) :

Breakfast - 1 Bowl of coco pops (handful) and milk (full cream) OR 2 pieces of toast (white bread) with marg and a glass of milk
I can't switch to skim milk as I hate the taste, but I can switch to soy milk if thats any better? Or give dairy up all together, which ever is more effective

*NB* This is just for now, as i'm on holidays but usually during school time I skipped breakfast or just drink a glass of milk, which I know is bad
Need suggestions on what to eat thats quick and healthy

Lunch - When at school - Sandwich with most likely pb/jam OR sandwich with cheese and tomato OR sandwich with cream cheese AND either a fruit bar or museli bar for recess
When at home - 1 packet of instant noodles (with broth) OR 2 vege sausages in a piece of bread with tomato sauce OR 1 Packet of those macaroni and cheese

Dinner - Usually pasta (with tomato sauce, a few veges and cheese), lasagne (vege), burritos (with beans, sour cream and cheese), curries with rice OR Indian flat bread (usually 2 breads)

Also I drink alot of fizzy drink, I know I should cut that out, and starting today i've stopped it

Thanks for reading all this =]

the first thing ya should do is read the sticky post that are scattered around the forum, the will give you most of the basic info you need. then you will be able to ask more specific questions.

dumping the soft drink is a good step, i would also dump the coco pops for something with less sugar and low GI to keep you going through the day longer like wheat bix or a good quality museli.

those packets of macaroni cheese are not a good option either.

Have you planned to do any exercise ?

it would also be a good idea to start a diary in the diary section of the forum :)

I hear your call for support and that is always the first step. One thing might be to sit down and write out a plan for who ever came to you for advice with your habits and life situation. I've gone fro 440# to 150# with designing a great nutruitional practicle plan, need excersise so findsome thing you can do several days a week and will keep up at it. I choose yoga (which was a real joke at first), but it made me a lot more limber and really affected how I felt about myself. Finally after trying to walk regularly like the doc said, in our cold wet weather I'd always find reasons to not go out in the cold, so we got a tredmill and put it infront of my face, right at the end of my bed. Can't pretend not to see it. My first steps were slow and painful but I wanted my life back. I set my rules for healthy living and when I do them I feel great and when I don't, well, it can cause a real back slide. NO sugar or substitues, never eat after 6 pm, drink 3 qts of water or light no caffeen tea each day. Often when I think I'm hungry, really thirsty. Lots of tips and support, so if you just need someone to hear you or to offer support, look me up. Tana Hamiter :hurray:

Thanks guys =]
Exercise, i'm planning on going for a brisk 30 min walk in the morning
But don't know any other exercises I could do in the house
Also i'm thinking frozen veges for lunch (boiled/steamed)
What could I use for flavouring?
Salt? Pepper? Vege stock?
Today was my first day ever without any soft drink =]
I had a 1.5L bottle of water and I feel kind of proud haha
