Newbie Needs Advice

Hey everone....glad I found y'all. This place looks to be a plethora of good info !!

Here's me......40, wm, 5'10", 205. Somewhat defined in the upper body......cut on biceps, triceps, chest, traps.....BUT.....also have the spare tire around the midsection and I have gone from a 33-34 waist to a full 36 in the past two years.

In the past 6 months I have been running 6 miles 5 to 6 nights per week and doing moderate weight training. Then I changed about 4 weeks ago and started doing 30 minutes HIIT every other night and 45 min to 1 hr heavy weight training every night.

All the while.....I consume less than 2000 calories each day Mon-Fri and maybe a little higher on Sat and Sun.

I need advice from anyone who can help me let the air out of this spare tire....and get back to a 32 to 33 inch waist !!!!!!

Jeff,

Your running almost every night, weight-training and getting plenty of exercise. Your taking in (relative to your exercise) low calories. That's great, it sounds good.....so what, if anything, seems to be the problem?

The only thing I could presume is that you are frustrated with what you may perceive as a lack of results. Let me quote from a post I made yesterday:

Watching results of weight-loss and muscle gain is like trying to watch your hair grow, you just can't see it...I lost over 40-pounds of real fat and hardly noticed any difference in the mirror. I also had several weeks where my body-fat was falling, yet my weight remained the same or even went up. Now that you're eating right and working-out, your body will respond in building/adding lean muscle...and in my case (on the weight scale) the gain of muscle offset the loss of fat...my results on the weight scale left me depressed & devastated.

Give yourself a break...it took time to gain that weight and it isn't gonna just fall off over night. It's a long gradual process and results, even though they are happening, can be very VERY elusive. I just saw a pic of myself taken a week ago...I can't believe that's me!!!!!!

This is going to be a long process...but with tenacity, perseverence and steadfast determination you will get there. And here's the great thing: with each passing week it'll become easier and easier. You're on the right path.....keep it up and post your results!
