newbie just getting started

I just started yesterday with my own simple common since diet. Replacing soda with water, eating serving sizes, 30 minutes a day of exercise... I am proud of myself for doing my little workout yesterday and today, but I wonder if it will work. When i started my job seven months ago as a nurses assistant I thought that would make me loose weight with all the walking, squating, lifting, pushing, and pulling. I havent lost a pound. But I have been eating way too much too. I am so so so tired of being fat. I miss the way i looked before I had four kids. I miss being able to wear those pretty clothes they sell for smaller people. I miss my sex life. I have always been good at achieving goals i have set my mind to but this is hard for me because I wont see results right away, so it feels like it isnt working. I hope I can be strong enough to not give up. This is very important to me.
 
Good luck! Hospitals don't really inspire healthy eating, with weird schedules and odd lunch times, when you get to take one. I'm a pharmacy tech at a hospital, so I understand!
 
you know I was thinking if there was some way I could convince myself that weight loss would improve my favorite hobby, portrait photography, I'd be all over it like white on rice.

Keep up the good work. It will come off if you stick with it. Make sure to watch your calorie intake and you should be fine. I have been where you are so I know how you feel (i still feel like that some days) I'm only 5'2" and when I had my daughter I was 200lbs(Feb. 06). I have been going up and down since then but from other reasons(had surgery on my leg and couldn't exercise for months) But have recently started to eat healthier and exercise again starting dec. 1st and have lost 10lbs since then(I currently weigh 167), I know its not a lot but I know how hard it is to get weight off after a baby. Just stick with it even when you don't feel like it, remember why you are doing it. Good Luck.

Oh, another photographer!! :D I loooove photography, and am working on becoming professional *keeps fingers crossed all the time*. Give me a holler sometime - I'd love to see some of what you've done, and maybe we can compare and get get some ideas from each other. I'm shooting my first wedding in August :eek:

I wont be able to exercise today because I have to work an odd shift. How many calories a day should I take in too help me loose weight? I am 5'3 and 205lbs. Trying to exercise 20-30 minutes a day.
 
If you click on the link in wishes signature she has some stuff there about how you can calculate calories for weight maintenance.

Nice to meet another shortie on the forum. :) (I am even shorter than you at 5'0").
