Newbie here

Hello all,

My name is Kevin but you can call me cuchulain. I'm a 24 year old college student pursuing a major in journalism.

I'm 5'8 and over 210 lbs last I checked, although I'm probably a lot heavier now. I haven't started any kind of exercise or diet routine yet because I'm still trying to figure out the best way to do it. I'm also a smoker so I want to quit smoking before I start anything.

What I'm considering doing is 1. quit smoking 2. drink water and cut out all other kinds of drinks 3. running and walking for a half hour to an hour everyday and 4. joining a boxing gym in that order.

I joined this site to get advice and see what other people are doing to lose weight. Thanks in advance for all welcomes.
 
Welcome to the community. I bet those things will help quite a bit if you can commit to them! Just remember, weight loss boils down to being in a calorie deficit. If you cut smoking and nix the calorie laden drinks, but replace those habits / foods items with more calories... you're simply going to leave off where you started.
