newbie here

Hi, my name is Susan. I have just very recently begun to workout regularly - and I have found that I really enjoy it. On January 20, 2009, I had gastric bypass surgery. I have lost 41 pounds since then. I started the day of surgery walking. I have gradually increased to 50 minutes a day (ok maybe 6 days a week - like does get in the way at times). I also do the weight machines like three days a week and swim two or three times a week. My husband also had the surgery on the same day. He is not quite as into the working out as I am. We have three kids and the oldest (13 years) and youngest (almost 4 years) are really getting into working out with me. I just finished my walk tonight and decided to search out other people and that way when I have questions, I have a group to go to. I am looking forward to asking my hundreds of questions to those of you who know your stuff.

hi Susan :waving: and welcome.

i'm Nancy, also a newbie.

looking forward to getting to know you.
congrats on your weight loss so far. are you following any kind of plan? what is your goal?

with the surgery, there are lots of food rules to follow. for example - no sugar and very low to no carbs. also very little fat. chicken, tuna, turkey are ok. each week from the surgery i have been able to add a little bit a new food types. for two weeks after the surgery - i had no food - only liquids. lots of protein shakes. I started at 322, and my goal is 160. I would love to be half the woman I was last Christmas (2008) by this Christmas (2009). My surgeon says that as long as I continue working out and eating the way i am now, it is a realisitic goal.

Wow... It's amazing what that surgery does.

I just saw the mother of one of my girlfriend's, she had a bypass done last summer. I was amazed when I saw her, a whole new person, super tiny!! She is half of what she was.

So good luck to you and your husband on your journey! :D
