Hello Everybody!

I am so glad I found you guys. I am a first time mom and we have a 15 mo old boy. I am trying to lose some of that pregnancy weight. I am currently at 165 pounds and I am 5.6ft....I would like to lose 20 lbs at least in the next few months. Here's my schedule

Breakfast: I am trying to eat like a king - Peanut butter, bread, juice
Lunch: Either two rotis (Indian flat wheat bread) with a curry (I am Indian and can only eat non-Indian food at most twice a week :( ) or a grilled salmon with salad or grilled chicken with salad
Dinner: One can of Progresso soup.

I am also eating a couple or 3 100 calorie bars in between meals and drinking ~2litres of water.

Since I cannot work out before our baby goes to bed, I am working out from 9-10 6 nights a week on our elliptical trainer and I use a different program on it everyday.

How does this look? Would you think I am eating too much? I really want to come down to a size 8 (or even 6) by summer and wear really good clothes

Approximately how many calories is that a day? Get yourself an account on and record what you're eating... if you're cooking your indian meals yourself - enter the ingredients as recipes and it will really make you aware -- otherwise it's just guessing...

Weight loss, which has been said around here a million times, is using more calories than you take in - and it's really helpful to know what you are taking in.

The plus side to indian food, is that it's generally natural ingredients, not necessarily low calorie but natural... the body can process butter or ghee a lot better than it can process margarine... so if yo watch portion sizes... you shouldl be fine with curries (and do share some recipes in the recipes forum -I'd love some authentic recipes :D

Read around the exercise forum as well - you probably want to add some resistance training in to your workout in addition to the cardio - and that can be body weight exercises -there's some suggestions in the stickied threads.

welcome and have fun while you're here

Thank you very much for the suggestions Mal. I am not sure how many calories that could be approxiamately. I will have to do the math. I will definitely share some healthy recipes in the next few weeks. I kind of modified some of the authentic recipes to make them low fat :) and yes I do most of the cooking at home for most part of the week. Weekends we tend to eat out but I started watching my proportions and eating low fat grilled stuff...

Do you think working out that late in the night is a bad thing? Some of my friends mentioned that I wont lose any weight if I work out before bed?????
