newbie here is this machine right

to cut a long story short. realised enough is enough time to lose weight i not bore you with sob storys or excuses but I do need abit of help.

because of my weight im too self concious(forgive spelling?) to go out running, just yet anyway. I also dont want go to the gym yet. the only thing I have at home is a strider i think its called (pic below).

My target is weight loss im not that fussed about building up muscle etc (yet anyway) my main concern is losing weight, im controlling my calorie intake but i was wondering will this machine help me as a friend of mine told me its practically useless for burning calories is it true.

Anything that gets you expending more energy than you were previously expending will help, assuming you keep nutrition in check.

Don't feel locked into using only that machine though. Be creative.

There's plenty of things you can do from the privacy of your home with only your body weight.
 
When I started out, I was the same way. My only exercise was pacing back and forth in the living room, and "dancing" to MTV music videos :D

Like Steve said, if you're expending more energy than you're taking in, you'll lose weight.
