newbie help

Alright so now I'm in college and I added a couple pounds over the past semester. Now I'm in search of a little help to start out a workout routine to get my physique slimmed down. Right now im 6'3 230ish with a lot of extra flab around the mid section and love handles. I was just wondering what I have to do to have a flat stomach by summer. I would really like to be down to around 185-190 by that time also. Send me some advice as to how to get started.
