Newbee here Please help me

Ok I am very new to this board thing, but I really need help and don't know many people here in CA. Last year I weighed 130lbs and I was looking pretty good. Since I have gained over 20 pounds and it literally looks like I am 6 months pregnant. I know most might say I am exagerating but I have been congratulated on my non-existant pregnancy. :( It makes me very unsocial as there is so much to look at here. I started working out again early last month and slowly I was starting to see a change. Now however this last week I had an unexpected Hernia surgery and I am stuck on restriction. I know there has to be something I can do without hurting myself for the next 6 weeks. I want so much to tone back up and be slim again. I hate looking pregnant especially when my last child is now 9 years old. I could use any tips and tricks. I want this to be a life change. I have tried every diet pill on the market in the last couple of years. I like to work out but can have a hard time staying motivated. Thank you in advance.

Hi,
Thank you for your response. I try to eat sensable. I take a multi pack of vitamins everyday. I eat about 6 times a day usually. Sometimes I forget to eat. But I have some fruit or something for breakfast since I don't like breakfast and a nutrigrain bar for a snack than for lunch I either eat leftovers from dinner or I make a veggie sandwhich. My favorite. Sometimes I will have a salad or something. I have cut soda out of my diet, which has done good for me but I still have my coffee in the morning. I drink a lot of water but to keep from wanting soda or starkbucks all day while at work I tend to drink a lot of the fruit 2 o waters. I don't eat a lot of sweets. I have found though that if you are craving something you should let yourself have it or you will go crazy. So if I crave a sweet I have one but in proportion. Many times I will sub fruit or something and it helps me a great deal. The hardest thing at our home is that my job is very demanding at times so sometimes I don't get home for dinner ntil almost 8 or 9 pm. I think that weights a lot.

Hi Rainbow, welcome to the forum. First off congrats on wanting to make a lift style change. Forget about diet pills or any other diet fads. There''s no magic formulas. Eat 5-6 smaller meals a day, starting with breakfast. That may be your most important meal of the day. Include a protein and a complex carb at each meal. If you have to work long hours, is it possible for you to bring some healthy food to work with you ? Be sure to include fruits and vegetables in your diet. As far as your physical restictions, have you asked your doctor, what you can and can't do ? Even just walking is much better than being sedentary, until you get back to being completely healthy. Keep us updated. I'm sure others will post their thoughts as well. Good luck with your recovery and your goals.

Just wanted to say that I totally repsect you for wanting to make a lifestyle change. You are way ahead of most! I definitely agree with JPC's post. Talk with your doctor about what you can/cannot do physically.

Then start eating really, really well. This is one of 5 tips from my "Tips for Fat Loss" post I often do:

1) Eat 5-6 small meals throughout the day. Each meal should be 2-3 hours apart. Each meal should contain one protein and one carb. The first meal should be eaten within an hour after waking.

Thank you everyone. Where would be a good site for good foods, meals, and so forth. I get so much various about wha tI think is healthy and what is not. I love avacados, sprouts, whole grain breads and so forth but.
