Hi. I'm another newby. I have gained 50 pounds since I got married (20+ years). My kids have only seen me overweight, and I feel that I'm not being a good example. I have NO discipline. My husband and kids bring sweets into the house...and I eat them. Sigh.
I lost 20 pounds on the Atkins diet about 5 years ago and gained it all back slowly. I'm resisting going on a diet program. I started going to a health club a couple of times a week, but stopped after going on a cruise last April. We're still paying dues, too!
I had a back surgery 2 years ago, and I think that has something to do with weight gain. I'm fairly sedentary.
I thought that reading about other people's purposes and struggles would encourage me. That's why I'm here!

Welcome here Cheryl...it's good to 'see' you! So sense letting your gym fees go to waste, is there? :) Take it slow, one day at a time. You can do this; you just need a plan, and some goals. Start with small ones. :)
 
One thing!

I really appreciate the thought of just doing one little thing to start with. I am planning on starting with drinking more water. I always go for a glass of wine in the late afternoon. My purpose is to drink at least 8 oz of water before the wine. Maybe I'm somewhat dehydrated!!

One thing at a time...;)
 
just wanted to drop in and say good luck with the water...i've never been much of a water drinker myself. i joined in on the "drinking 64oz of water challenge" here, and it has really helped me. i don't always get in my full amount, but it helps me to feel accountable, and it has actually gotten easier day by day to get all my oz's in. so good luck, don't give up, each day is a new chance to make healty choices!

Yesterday I did drink a lot, but I was up 3 times in the night because of it!! Does your body get used to all that water?:rolleyes:
 
i try drink all my water during the day while i'm at work...i'm usually done by 7:00pm or so, and in bed by 10:00. that seems to work for me with no potty breaks at night!:p
 
Our bodies also get pretty used to all that extra water, I haven't woken in the night in AGES now!
