Hi, I'm new here, and like a lot of people, I'm making weight loss one of my New Year's resolutions. Last summer after graduating college, I taught English in southern Japan, and I lost a lot of weight from the heat, walking to work, the Japanese diet, and stress! However, when I came back, I got really sick and have been ever since. There has been a constant swelling in my throat and sinuses, and the only way it seems to feel normal is by eating. So over the fall, I gained some weight
I'm seeing a doctor now and starting to feel better. I love working out and I eat healthy normally, but the illness I have is made worse by exercising, so until recently I couldn't do much of it. I couldn't even work for a couple of months because I couldn't breathe properly. It's been a really rough fall and winter so far, I guess.
So now, I'm working out 30-45 minutes a day doing yoga, pilates, or low-impact aerobics. Every now and then when I get a chance, I like to go hiking too. I'm also trying to eat better. Additionally, I'm searching for a new job AND waiting to see if I get into grad school for this coming fall. I'm trying very hard to make this year a great one!! I'm coupling exercise and healthy diet with a positive attitude. Hopefully I will be 12+ lbs lighter by bikini season. I gotta have a fun goal, right?
Nice to meet you all!
