New Year, New Diary

I've gotten pretty lazy over the past while. My eating well stopped when my budget became and issue so I've been begging for family sponsorship to help me get back on it. It turns out they have a few dollars to spare for my food so it looks like things will be looking better. When I'm done high school I will be able to get a job but right now it just doesn't seem to be in the books.

But here is 2009. I am going to lose lots of weight this year. I plan to be under 200lbs before the end of swim season. (August 20th is my goal).

Currently am 260lbs (8lb of holiday FAT). I started calorie counting last march, I had lost near 20lbs and gained 8 back. Well, that might be fine in the coming years but I'm too close to my starting weight right now to comprimise anything.

I currently seem to be a bit sedentary so my estimated daily allowance of calories is 2500 calories. I plan to start with a 2000 calorie a day lifestyle followed with lower calories as needed AND maybe some more exercise.

I walk a few hours a week to and from school and that's about it. I am too poor to afford a gym pass right now, and consistent outdoor exercise may not always be possible (not because of the cold weather but I if the ice is bad I'm deathly afraid of dropping 260lbs on it).

Anyways, I will lose weight. This is going to be MY year.

-260lbs, 2000 calories a day.

Goal: 180lbs. Maybe I'll be happy with myself there. We'll see when I get there.

Oh Yeah, New Years day approximately 2150 calories were consumed. A little off track but not bad considering the dinner and the dessert table.

2000 calories today, only exercise was shopping unfortunately.

Don't feel like typing the menu.

Night Night.

Best of luck reaching your goals this year! And good job not gaining all of the lost weight back. Given that you're obviously a teenager, I think its only fair that your family pay for healthy food for you so you can be a healthy weight. You DESERVE that and it doesn't have to be that expensive. Whole foods are often far cheaper than the processed "cheap" stuff. Like brown rice and dried beans. Those are pretty cheap and last forever (especially if you never eat them LOL). I noticed bananas are ALWAYS cheap as can be, no matter the season. 2000 calories a day sounds like a great plan! Any chance you could order a work-out DVD to do in the house after school?

Looks like your doing good!! And I agree with Blancita.. try to find a work out video... you can sometimes find cheap ones at walmart.. or sometimes they even play on tv.. or you could look up some bacis workouts online.. any little bit of exercise helps!! I have have to get started myself.. lol.. but I wish you the best!!

I'm an adult, I just slacked off for 2 years and now I'm stuck without a job struggling to get my diploma. I'm actually 20 years old (almost, one month). I have a little bit of cash stashed away for college and my family is dead set against me spending it for anything like food so they're trying to help.

I have tried to find work-out videos, I'm thinking I may try belly dancing. It turns out the weather hasn't been as bad lately, so I'm hoping I'll get a little more time to be outside in the cold air. It keeps me moving and I just love it.

I am fortunate that I have to walk to school every day. That gives me about 45 minutes of mandatory walking a day, I just want to amp up my exercise to do more than that. I don't feel like that's enough.

Getting back on the diet will help too. It's just extremely hard, I hadn't ever gotten too far off track (until Christmas) and I had a very hard time losing. The initial 15lbs was very easy to lose and then I was stuck at 252 for months. I've been trying to lose weight for 2 months short of a year and I'll be lucky if I can hit the 25lb mark before March which is what gets me so discouraged in the first place.

I'm going to try and focus on inches instead. I currently have a 44.5 inch waist and I'm looking to get it down to 33 inches to fit into XL clothes instead of the limited about of XXXL in the poorly done plus sized sections of stores.

I had a lot to write today I guess!

Thank you both for stopping in!!

And as for today

2000 calories, 30 minutes of walking at 3.0 mph. (Not for exercise but because I had to. I don't exercise Sundays).

Sorry cutie but from a 40 year old, you're still a kid who deserves some healthy food paid for by the parents. LOL (dont get mad at that!).

I know all too well how hard it is to lose weight. And usually its great to see people eating 2000 calories if they can lose on that, and many can. But usually to eat that amount and still lose you've got to be doing some hardcore exercise several times a week. Just being upfront here, but I truly think if you're not losing on 2000 calories or once the WL stops, you will have to cut more cals or kick up the exercise. Good for you for all you're doing so please dont get annoyed at my post (as I might if I read my own post hehe).

Hi! I wholeheartedly endorse many, many different workout videos!!! You can do it in the privacy of your own room. There are also lots of calisthenics you can do at home (sorry to say it, but those old standbys of lunges, pushups, situps, step-ups, and of course, dancing, all work wonders!).

Best wishes to you as you pursue your fitness goals!:hurray:
Cheers

I'm not sure that I can do "hard core" exercise on top of the two and a half hours of walking a day that I am currently trying to get into -especially coming from a pretty sedentary lifestyle.

I'm going to stick with the 2000 calories for little longer because I did just come out of a very rough calorie patch (holidays) anyways. If I'm unsuccessful in a short period of time I think I'll throw my calories down a bit but I'm hoping not to have to.

My only concern is I'm not getting enough thyroud medication. I was diagnosed with hypothyrodism about 4 years ago now and have been taking ehm...whatever the drug is I'm taking to try and make up for it.

Time will tell.

Thank you for your input Blancita, and ABBAgirl as well.

But the real reason I got on was to make note to myself that I was able to openly tell everyone I'm trying to lose weight and that I'm over 200lbs (not that they couldn'y see it).

OMG, I must work on my reading comprehension I guess. 2 and 1/2 hours of walking a day is indeed "hardcore exercise" in my book. You are right to stick with the 2000 calorie plan until you're no longer losing. I hate seeing people cut out so much more than they need to and then they're starving and deprived and fall off the wagon quickly. So I agree you're on the right track, not that you need me to tell you that. Have fun walking!

I have had many of my successes with a 2250-2500ish calorie diet, with probably roughly the same/a bit more exercise (more intense than walking generally, but for a shorter amount of time). If its working, then go for it, cutting more calories than you need to is definitely hard...well, for me at least. I tried 1500 for awhile when i wasn't as motivated to get exercise, and i felt like i wasn't eating anything lol... it didn't last long I'm afraid. I am currently at 2k/day as well though, we shall see how it goes ^^

best of luck!

Weighed in January 1st at 260
Weighed in January 8th at 254

Seems like a big loss for one week..I'm sure some of it's water weight but I have been working very hard (and also I put on these past few pounds really fast which I suspect is why they came off fast).

Things have been going well, I'm learning to cope with my body's eating desires. I'm planning to continue.

Too bad I couldn't lose 6lbs every week.

I suppose I should post here more often than I do (which is hardly ever).

Current weight: 248 lbs.

Total Weight Lost since January 1st: approximately 12lbs.
Total weight lost since March 2008: approximately 22 lbs.

Current Waist Measurement: 42 inches

Total Inches Lost off my waist since January 1st: 3 inches
Total Inches Lost off my waist since March 2008: 5 inches

Verdict: I suppose I`ve done more in this past month than I had done all of 2008. I`m a little upset, but there`s nothing I can do about it. Atleast I`m making progress now.

Additionally I`d like to add that after a long 2 years, I am officially single and trying to cope with it. I`ll show that bastard what he`s going to miss.

After a very long and eventful february, I've decided to start posting again. I turned 20, got hit by a car and had lots of cake.

My weight had went back up to 257, but I'm back down to 250 again; eating bread. I'm supposed to be insulin resistant but I've been consuming carbs like no tomorrow and losing weight.

Anyways, today's diet:

Breakfast: 1 cup of milk + 1 cup of frosted flakes

Lunch: 2 pieces of whole wheat bread,3 tomatoe slices, 30 grams of cheese, 2.3 oz of ham and 2 cups of Milk

Supper: 60 grams of uncooked rice (later cooked :p), 2 cups of mixed vegetables, 1/4 teriyaki sauce and 3 oz chicken breast

Treat: 2 Cups of Chocolate ice cream

Total today: 2060

With 1 hour of walking at about 3 mph.

Breakfast: Bagel with 2.2 oz of ham, no butter

Snack: 2 cups of 100% pure orange juice

Lunch: Bagel with 2.5 oz of ham :}

Snack: 1/2 cup brownie mudpie ice cream :]

Supper: 1.5 cups of 2% white milk and 1 ham (0.6 oz) cheese (30 grams) and pickle (1) sandwich (2 slices of whole wheat bread)

Dessert: 300 grams of Honeydew melon

Snack: 1 piece of whole wheat bread with 0.6 oz of ham and 1/2 glass of 2% milk

Total calories today: 2000

Exercise:

Walked for 1 hour and 45 minutes.

And I might add that I was very wet doing so.

Lots of ham today :lurk5:

My best friend is moving (she's my neighbor too). I can't stop crying, I really don't want her to leave. At the same time I'm so happy her for her. She's wanted to leave this house and this area for so long, and finally she gets the chance to do it.

I feel more alone every day. All of the friends that I love are leaving

I feel like I'm opposite to every rule lately.

I am insulin resistant and lose most of my weight consuming high amounts of bread and carbs.

I've lost more weight after weeks of eating terribly and not exercising than I have eating healthy and working hard.

I don't get full if I don't eat my food fast contrary to the belief that eating slowly helps you feel fuller.

I actually weigh less during my period than I weigh before or after it.

Whatever.

Anyways, I will lose weight. This is going to be MY year.

Well, that's a little selfish, don't ya think? I mean, why does it have to be YOUR year? Why can't it be OUR year? :mumbleselfishjerkmumble:

Anyway, I read through your journal and it looks like you're doing really good. You've lost 15 lbs this year already, which is pretty damn good. Maybe it has a little something to do with the low fat milk...

:drum roll:

So, I just wanted to stop in and say "hi". Also, I wanted to see how you were doing and it looks like you're doing pretty good. Keep up the good work Milky. Oh yeah, that's what I might call you from now on...Milky. Either that, or Mrs. Poopypants. I haven't decided yet.

ROCK ON!!!
