Hi Everyone, My name is Annie.

Ive been trying to lose weight for years now but keep giving up and then re-trying and have pretty much been a yo-yo dieter.

Now though I am more determined than ever. All i want to lose is 2 dress sizes (which isnt that much) but because i keep loosing determination i thought i would join this forum because then we are all in the same boat together and can help eachother to keep going.

:seeya:Hello

Welcome to the forum.

The best thing that I can suggest is that you take up some form of regular exercise - even if it is just that you walk regularly. Obviously it is better to do something more formal than that - but - take it from me - anything that makes you move more is a good move.

Then you need to read the sections about nutrition. Most of us pick up a very basic notion of nutrition - that we need some protein to make us strong, calcium for our bones and fruit and veg are good for us. We have no real idea how much of each we should be getting to be healthy. We then read stupid notions about having to cut down to rediculous numbers like 1000 calories a day to lose weight. We do that for a while - counting the days until we can stop. No-one can keep that type of thing up for long. Then we stop and eat "normally" again. We gain weight - we learnt nothing other than the fact that we didnt like feeling deprived on a diet.

It is no wonder that people yo-yo.

You need to learn properly about healthy eating which is not only calories but all the rest of it. Monitor your whole nutrition - not just the calories. You can do that with a free account from The great thing is that you do not have to try and do it on anything like that silly number. Most of us find that with some exercise we are able to lose weight nicely on daily calories = 12 * weight in pounds. If that doesnt work try 11 * and see how that goes.

Hi and welcome! :)

Let me echo what Omega said - exercise and healthy eating are key. The stickies in the various forums are full of great information!
