:blush5: Okay this is how new I am to this forum and posting stuff. I posted a little paragraph about myself the other day and now cannot find it to see if I received any replies. So here goes again.

I am 51 years old, have always been thin and could eat anything put in front of me until a couple of years ago. Now I have gained 20 extra pounds and can feel it. I have cut out all of my ice cream at night:cry:, don't eat after 7:00PM, I eat fairly healthy, and have cut down on my portions.

I did start my own business a few years ago and sit in front of my computer a lot. Also as I have gotten older my metabolism is not what it used to be. Give me some ideas as to what to try, I know exercise is #1  (I have never had to exercise, even after the birth of each of my four children).

Hi and welcome!

Fellow business-owner here, so I understand the challenge of being chained to the screen - it definitely doesn't help the metabolism.

Do you make yourself take breaks during your workday? I used to not do this, but found the benefits of getting up and walking around for just 5 minutes every hour.

It won't "cure" your weight problems, but it's not a bad start.

Good luck finding what you're looking for in this forum!

One helpful hint someone gave me is to sit on an exercise ball (fairly large one) instead of a normal chair. This can help strengthen your abs and help with your posture. If you have clients come to your office i might hide the ball to look "more professional" but it really helps.

Also always have water next to you, if it's there in your eye sight you'll drink it more and can help with getting up and refilling it and stretching as well.

Good Luck!

Two great tips!

I've actually tried the "ball chair" technique...it DOES work, and luckily I work from home mostly so no worries about looking weird for clients! :)

Water is also a staple to a healthy way of living! I love drinking water, but I must be strange b/c all I hear over and over is how people have to force themselves to drink it!

Sounds like you know some of the keys!
