New to the Group.

Hi. My name is Mark. I am 47 years old. I started exercising a few weeks ago and have been using some light weights the last few days. My diet needs work, this I know. I am 5' 10" and weigh about 155. I would like to add a little weight and a little mass. Because I just started recently I have been taking it easy by only doing one set of a few exercises. Actually, yesterday was the first day of doing two sets. Not seeing much for results with the exception of feeling a bit stronger. My first question for the group is this. Am I wasting my time only doing one or two sets when the reading I have done says to do 4 to 6 sets of 6 to 8 reps? Also, regarding the 6 to 8 reps. Because I only have a few light weights, some of the exercises I am doing I am able to do 10 to 15 reps. I read that doing more than the 6 to 8 will not build muscle...Is that true?
 
Hey Buff...Welcome to the group and thank you for the reply. Guess I will have to go buy a few more weights when I can. Maybe a membership to a fitness club is in my future too...LOL. I will let you know if I am seeing any better results than what I am seeing now.
