New to the forums

Hi everyone!

I'm a 23 year old male, 6 feet tall, 250lb university student. I'd like to change to 250lb part of that sentence!

I've been looking around the website trying to figure out a good weight loss program and I have some questions.

So, my basic idea is that cardio (HIIT in particular) is my best bet for weight loss. Of course this has to be done in conjunction with a good diet.

Now, I'm pretty confident I can set up a good cardio routine (3-4 times per week and I'll probably have to do it in the morning before classes) but I do have some questions about the diet part.

I don't have much money, so buying expensive food is tough! What are some good healthy choices that are also low priced (or at least reasonalby priced). I guess I can save some money by reduing the amount of beer I buy (or not buying it at all:eek:) and that can leave me with more food money. Short of that do you guys have any tips?

Also is HIIT/Cardio the way to go? Or should I throw in some weightlifting in there as well?

From my estimations my BMR is somewhere around 2350 cal. I read for weight loss I should drop it down by 500 cal a day (although I guess that assumes not doing exercise). So should I try to consume about 2000 cal a day when I'm into the program for good weight loss results?

Thanks a lot everyone!

I agree, I would do lifting as well as cardio.

HIIT is the way to go :) When it comes to calorie consumption, it is individual (metabolism, what kind of workout you do and how often etc)

But for your part I would not recommend dropping below 2000 calories, it could result in too much muscle loss.

Good luck :)
