Hi Everyone,

I am new to the community weight loss program. For years now I have tried to do things by myself and for years now I have failed. Not really failed but have lost and gained, lost and gained. So now with support I am hoping this will work for me. I am 5'4", 35 years old and my weight 164 pounds. I am borderline obese. I have managed to lose 8 pds but has taken me 6 months and I have been very inconsistent. I have joined a gym and started a workout plan have been doing this for a week now. We will see how this goes. So now I hope with the support of everyone and ideas that together we can get me into shape not only for me but for my 3 children youngest being 3 yrs old. Thank you for reading this and I am open to any new starting suggestions.

Read all the sticky threads all around the forum - especially the sections on exercise and nutrition. Get a free account from and log your food and exercise. Monitor your nutrients with it too.

Hi Sandy. Welcome.

I'll echo what Omega has said: Get an account at fitday.com and start logging your food. Exercise is good, but the key to losing weight is controlling what you eat. Until you get that in line, then the exercise is probably not going to help much with shedding fat.

And read the sticky posts in the various areas, especially the ones in the exercise area. There's so much good information there. :)
