New to the crew

Hi all, I'm Mimi and I just signed up for the forum today. I've tried losing weight about a zillion times, and usually from 5-10lbs and a size, and then go back to the bacon cheese burgers and fries, or just mountains and mountains of cheese.

I'm new to New England (moved up form Texas in August) and I have to say, the winter is kicking my butt. I'm tired of being indoors and pouting, so I finally made it to the gym this week...twice! I suppose every journey begins with one step, and maybe a few back slides too. I've finally quit smoking for good, and I'm ready to take on the other aspects of my health now, too.

I'm 5ft tall, 175lbs, and cautiously optimistic!

Welcome aboard and congrats!

Winters up here in the NE can be pretty brutal. That said, you can get your hands on some very warm, breathable clothing and do hiking and such during the cold months.

Be creative.

There's also a ton of things you can do in the warmth of the indoors too. You don't always need the gym to have a good workout.

Best to you!

congrats on quitting smoking
its something i been working at myself

im from new york so i know how the cold can be, but that doesnt mean you have to stay indoors. and good for you that you got to the gym. whether it was twice or a million times its better than none.
good luck

Hi, I am new to all this and I was hoping that someone out there will be able to help me? I wondered if anyone have or had an Exercise Fit n Fold Strider as seen on TV. I am thinking of buying one and I need to know how much it weighs? for Postage and Packaging. The one I am talking about is on Web/Images , just type in Fit n fold Strider and it comes up , but no weight?
I am just about to embark on a fitness/diet program. I weigh far too much and hope I get some buddy support.

It is hard to say no to the cheeseburgers! That's so great that you quit smoking! I quit on Jan 1 of this year and it has been great ever since, and you're right, even the longest journey starts with one step, just commit to ur goals and you'll do great!

Welcome! That's awesome you gave up smoking. Cold turkey?

I need to do that!! lol. Take care and WE CAN DO IT!

I'm transitioning this conversation over to my journal (Mimi's Journey) in the diary section. I did quit cold turkey, exactly, but it was a long long journey.

Thanks for all the encouragement.
