New, needing to lose BIG, 100 lbs.

Hi, Sarah. I'm not quite in the 100 lb. club, but I had 80 to lose when I started last July (53 to go!). And like you, fear is now my primary motivator (pre-diabetic, pre-hypertensive). It's one thing to get healthy for vanity; it's quite another because you start to realize all that fat on your body can kill you.

There are lots of great people on this board who will give you excellent advice and support when you ask for it. It's one of the best places I know for that.

Congratulations on initiating your new life!

Im in that 100+ loosing category too, and for me to say that it will be easy would be a lie. You are on the right track, just constantly remind yourself why your doing this. In a couple weeks time things will start becoming a habit like the excercise and the anti soda deal and it will get easier in that aspect. I know you can do this and I look forward to seeing your progress

Yeah, I think one thing that is helping me is I've finally accepted the whole saying "It took time to put the weight on, it will take time to take it off." I use to hate it when people said that, but now I've just finally accepted that it is true. That this is going to be a long, tough road.

I think the soda and exercise are already working their way into becoming habits. I noticed that this morning my first thought when I woke up was "Time to get the workout clothes on and get on the stepper.", before I had even sat up. I just need to get bed time on more of a set time so that I wake up at the same time every morning and all is more routine. I tried a sip of soda the other night and it tasted awful, so I think I'm over that. Eating 4-6 times a day at regular intervals is going to be my big problem when it comes to creating a habit of it.

Well....there is a little vanity pushing me too, lol. I keep a picture of me when I was 135lbs. here at my desk. And I keep what I call my "nice a**" jeans hanging up in the bedroom. I really want to be able to wear them again! However, the health factor is pushing me more. I'm really scared of what could happen to me if I were to fail at this. But, I won't fail, I refuse to let myself just give up. I feel very much like I am fighting for my life.

Way to go on the weight loss! Keep it up. (Or should I say, keep it going down? lol)

Hey, how did it feel to hit that 10lbs lost mark?

great, of course! I would love to get back to losing 2 lbs/week, but it's been a slow start. It's hard for me to follow any kind of diet on the weekends. My boyfriend likes to eat out a lot, and I find I do much better when I am in a strict routine of gym, then home, then a good dinner with the healthy foods I have on hand. My boyfriend doen't have any food at his place!!

Hope you're doing well!:)
