New, need to lose 100+ lbs

Hi everyone!


A few years ago I weighed about 300 lbs. I basically crash dieted and got all the way down to 180. For about a year I stabilized around 220. But now I've gone beyond my previous peak and am 350. (I'm male and 6' tall.)


On and off during this time frame I've been doing weight training. At this point I feel conflicted about losing weight because I don't think I can expect to make any gains at the same time. On the other hand I'm 100 lbs above what even professional bodybuilders (using steroids, etc) weigh, so I realize that I really need to focus on losing the weight.


I guess even so I'm still worried about how to go about it without losing muscle (and then ending up with a still-too-high body fat percentage. Any suggestions/advice welcome. Thanks!
