Hi everyone,

Firstly I will tell you all a little about me.

I'm 34 and have been overweight my whole life. At my heaviest I was 18stone 7lbs and managed to get to 14stone. I piled all the weight back on and then lost a bit taking me to 15stone 10lbs. This was last year and then I fell pregnant. I now have an absolutely gorgeous 6week old girl but my eating habits are so so so bad. I eat huge family size bars of chocolate packets of biscuits sweets - you name it Im eating it.

Why am I here!
* I need support. As I'm on maternity leave and on statutory pay so joining classes is not an option.
* I want to break my bad habits before my little girl is of an age where she starts to show an interest in food
* Id love to return to work after mat leave 4stone lighter and just looking great
* I hate looking at myself in the mirror - I look awful

I'm not really sure what plan to follow or if I'll even get proper time to eat looking after a demanding 6wk old.

I'm really nice and friendly and cant wait to start making friends and chatting to some of you lovely people x

Hi. I'm the same about not being able to do classes. it is incredibly important to look after yourself when you have a small child. Some great advice that I have found useful is make sure you allow yourself enough time to do something you enjoy. These activities will be severly limited of course but so will the time that your child is so small. So while feeding, watch some nice programme or go on the Internet etc. Get yourself dressed and teeth brushed at least before letting the day start. In no way ever feel guilty because you think you are taking too much time for you. I doubt there are many parents that could achieve that feat. These types of activities will allow healthy eating to become an easier target. Because you will have more energy to make better choices. Let us all know how things go. It is great to hear how everyone copes with tricky situations. Good luck and keep looking after number one!

Hi there.

I've started a diary today too. Ive had a diary on here before and it as changed my life but like you I never kept it off. Hopefully this time we can both manage it. Try and post on your diary every day, it will help to keep you focused.

With a tiny baby, I think you just need to eat healthy, don't do anything drastic food wise, just try not to go for the crap (I know, I know, easier said than done ;) ) Exercise would be great for you. Walk, take her out for long walks, youll be amazed the difference just walking does.

I look forward to following your journey.

Kate. X

Welcome to the forum and your diary! Best place on the web to get support and motivation. Seriously, I swear by it. I also have my ups and downs and when I'm up and I log in there things go down IN A GOOD WAY. Glad you found us, keep logging in, keep your diary going and we'll be here to lend you some support.

Welcome to the forum! Don't worry too much about following a specific plan. If you know you eat too many sweets focus on what you can do to eat less sweets, and gradually implement better habits. And there are lots of exercise videos on the internet (for free!) so you can definitely find one that you like somewhere. Good luck, keep on posting!

:iagree: with all of the above. Walking with your baby & not eating rubbish will do it. To be better able to look after the ones we love we must also look after ourselves & that includes eating healthy & getting fresh air & exercise. You can do it. Next time you feel like eating chocolate log into your diary instead. You'll get lots of support & it's not fattening :) Cheers, Cate
