Hello Everyone,

I just had my first child almost 2 weeks ago. I am looking to lose the baby weight I gained and more, as I was overweight before being pregnant.

Since giving birth I have lost 18 lbs :)

Congratulations on the new addition to your family!!

Also - congratulations on wanting to be heatlthy! It's important to wait for your doctor or midwife's ok before begining an exercise and/or diet program as there are special considerations during the postpartum period. Make sure you are eating enough calories (especially if you are nursing) and ask about diastasis recti at your 6 week appointment and ask if there are any restrictions for diet and exercise before you start. Enjoy this time with your new little one - it goes by so fast!!

Welcome to the forum, Melissa! I agree 100% with ijustwannabefit... You'll need to wait for clearance from your doctor or midwife before you start any exercise or dietary changes. If you're breastfeeding, that in itself helps to burn calories and bring your weight back down. If you're breastfeeding or not, just focus on eating healthy, nutritious foods (no diets!) as much as you can right now and trying to take some breaks to focus on keeping your stress levels down.
