Hey guys and girls,
Just thought I would introduce myself as I will be popping in every now and then to get some motivation and advice, as well as some new ideas. I'm Brendan (Bren), 27yo from Australia and looking to finally drop my excess weight and build my strength back up with a view, not only to improve my overall health and self esteem, but to get back into competitive football (Australian rules football!)
I'm about 6'1" and currently weigh around 110kg. Terrible, I know. I have always been on the solid size, but seem to hold all my weight in my gut and chest. My dad has always been to same, although he has got his ass into gear lately as well. About 5 years ago when I was 21-22 I was 115kg and finally pulled my finger out and over the course of a year I lost around 22kg. I was doing hill runs in the morning and a cardio/weights gym session 3 times a week in the afternoons. I also had the benefit of a fairly physical job.
I kept the weight off for a while, and went to live overseas in London for 2 years. Most people talk of the 'Heathrow Injection' when moving to London where most people put on a lot of weight due to the backpacker/expat lifestyle over there. I managed OK, and seemed to keep most of the weight off, maybe putting on about 4kg over 2 years. Which wasn't too bad given the way i was living!
The problem is since I have been back I have slipped in to old habits and put the weight back on. The biggest issue is I now have a job where I work from home on the computer all day, which not only prevents me from getting the physical workout I used to get at work but also makes it a lot harder to get the motivation to get up and active in the afternoons when I've been sitting at home all day!
Anyway, that's my rambling story! I'll hit up the other relevant parts of this forum for my posts on my diet and routine!
