First, I have really enjoyed looking through this site and finally decided to join. I am 41 years old, 6'6" and 323 lbs. I am a former football player and now I coach. Currently my body fat is at about 30% (goal 10-12%), weight 323 (goal 240ish), and conditioning is poor (9:30 mile Goal 7minute). I still have fairly decent strength (400+ bench) and lift weights some. My eating is NOT terrible but I am working on cleaning it up, my biggest problem is lack of exercise. A few weeks ago I started a program that I thought might work to lose some weight, improve health and energy levels. Day 1- 30minute treadmill timed run keeping track of 1 mile and two mile time, and total distance.(1-mile 9:30 2mile mark 21:10, and 2.73 miles) I do 5 minute warm-up and cool down. I also use my heart rate monitor to try to stay in a "medium to high" zone. Day 2- Eliptical trainer for 30 to 40 minutes, again using heart rate monitor. Day 3- 1 hr walk keeping heart rate in right between low and medium intensity. Day 4- OFF repeat. I am also lifting 2 times per week upper body only so far as my legs adjust to cardio, but I am starting legs next week. Does this sound like a good plan? I would like to be able to run 5K's this spring for fun and do more activities that I would normally not do. Any suggestions on the weight loss or cardio>

Eat healthy, eat less, move more.....

Don't expect fast results, stay the course and remember....it took a while to put on, so it'll take a while to come off. Weight loss can be so gradual that you may not notice it in the mirror, but don't be discouraged!

Weigh yourself once per month, but try to focus on body-fat as muscle gains can skew numbers on the scale.

And welcome...:)
