new member - simple question

first off i wish to thank you for reading my post. i look forward to becoming an active member in your forums.

first things first, i've been working out for almost 2 months.
ive gone from a sloppy 195lb 5'10" to 170lbs and slowly taking shape.

now my goal is well defined abs, arms, and chest.

i rotate daily between cardio and weights (situps on cardio, pushups on weight days)
sunday is my relax day usually or saturday depending on my schedule.

i am dieting to the best of my ability considering resources and funds (so stupid healthier food cost more)

so i know it takes time for muscle to build mass which is why it is recommend to rest a day in between. however, as far as my arms are concerned, my arms are fairly big. they are not toned, but when flexed, they are decent, so i only want to tone them out nicely.

so would it be better to work them daily, considering at least at the moment, i desire no more mass, only definition?

as far as my abs and pecs, is every other day recommend or daily excersice better for toning then building mass?

i dont want to be a body builder, i simply want to be toned and well defined.

so is a target weight of 160-170 good? i want to be well toned for that or should i shoot lower?

and would daily reps of these muscles be more recommned?
i repeat, i do not want mass, only tone.
it may be a dumb question, but it made sense in my head when thinking bout allowing muscles to repair them selves to build up. since i wish to take the build up part out, would stressing them cause faster results?

kind of dumb to say, but i want to see some decents cuts in 3 to 4 months time?

thanks again for helping, look forward to seeing your responces.

First, welcome.

Second, cardio, by definition, is an activity that will get your heart rate into an elevated zone of at least 60% of its max heart rate, 70 is better and 80 is even better for at least 20 minutes, 30 is better and an hour is even better. I doubt that you are getting the heart rate or duration through situps, which are not a conventional form of cardio.

Third, read through the stickies which should answer a lot of your basic questions, such as yes, you can works abs and heart every day, but you need to rest all other muscle groups at least 1 day.

Depending on your muscle and bone structure, 160 could be scrawny, highly defined or flabby.
