:blush5: Hi all, my name is Kim and I am new to this forum. I have always been an ideal weight but since having my youngest daughter then giving up smoking and work, I have put on a fair bit of weight. I have joined the local gym but have little get-up-and-go at the moment but I am hoping to get the 'gym bug'. I know very little about diets but I am no longer snacking and I am trying to eat healthier and smaller portions. I suppose I am worried that my husband may find me a turn-off before long and I also feel a bit ashamed of myself :( I don't feel healthy at the moment and this upsets me as I did so well with quitting the smoking. Hope to find some encouragment and inspiration as well as show support for others who wish to lose weight and get healthier.

Whats your plan?? Any diet?? Good that your eating small portions but what kind of foods?? How many meals a day are you consuming?? on the gym, what kind of exercise are you doing and for how long???

No actual diet but I am eating smaller portions of food and we normally eat things like pasta, chicken, bit of red meat throughout the week, tuna, rice, potataoes (jacket or wedges), the odd takeaway (about once a fortnight) and beans. I have a strict three meals a day rule and NO snacking! I am doing 40 mins of cardio at the gym. 10 mins of uphill bike and 30 mins of cross-trainer (split into two 15 mins sessions with a 2 min break in between) I have yet to start weight training. Reading this back, it actually sounds fairly good so hopefully I should see a drop in dress size within a few weeks. I am feeling hungry between meals but I think this is due to the smaller meals and the fact I no longer snack. Before I was eating huge meals and snacks in the evening. I really hope I ca keep this up but I have tried and failed before (four months ago) and my weight has shot up from even then!! I am determined to suceed this time and to feel sexy again. It's not nice when you can't fit into your clothes or you are worried about bulges and wobbly bits!! I was also drinking beer but I have stopped this and swapped with wine, I only drink every other weekend now as well. It's been a real lifestyle changing thing for me. I think I weigh in at about 14 stone(Have to work out what that is in lbs)and I am 5ft 10' tall. My ideal weight should be 11 stone appparently so I have a fair bit to lose.
 
Hi, welcome to the forum.
There's a lot of good support here. Start looking up the calories on everything your eating and keep a record of it for a few days. Sometimes we think we're eating OK until we see all the calories.

OK, The Gym is fairly good.. Meals are not so bad!!
You should try to eat three meals a day, and two snacks.. One Between bf and Lunch and the other between lunch and dinner..
Snacks, eat, grain protein bars, fruits, dry fruits, almonds.. yogurt, orange slices, green salad(Small), soy chips etc.etc.
For example slices of a small banana (96 calories, 0 grams fat). Not only are you saving calories and fat, you’re also getting some fresh fruit.

Lets Recap a normal day..
Remember Morning Meal (BF) is the most important, have your eggs, milk, oatmeal and a slice of bread, Maybe Fruits.. Once in a while a pancake.. Water 12z
Then a Snack, A granola bar with 12 oz of water!!
Lunch, Green Salad with chicken, I WONT tell you NO dressing cause i couldn't eat a salad without a dressing, but MODERATE... You can make some potatoes, NOT FRIED.. But you get my point.. Water 12oz
Then Again a Small Snack, Maybe yogurt, dry fruits or orange slices..
On Dinner, a Tuna Salad, without MAYO.. jeje.. Water 12oz

Add water from time to time between dinner and snacks.. Maybe 8 glasses of 12oz..

TIPS TO REMEMBER:
1.Don eat with your eyes.. Serve a moderate plate..
2.When you eat, eat slowly... Just relax and enjoy your food with your fam.
3.Try to bite more your intake.. If you tend to bite a piece of chicken 5 times, give it 9 to 12 bites...
4.Cut your food in small pieces.
5.Little Secret, Drink one glass of water at least 10oz BEFORE eating.. This helps to lower the crave for the food..

On the Exercise, you can try fast pace walking and run...
try 18 minutes first and then start working your self up the minutes..
walk fast for 1 minutes then run for 1 minute.. Making intervals of 1minutes...
at your Minute 5, walk slow for 1 minutes.. then begin again.. and do 3 sets of 1 minute intervals... That's around 18 Minutes
SET
1min fast walk
1min run medium-fast pace (Just a little faster then your regular run pace)
1min fast walk
1min run medium-fast pace (Just a little faster then your regular run pace)
1min fast walk
1min - walk (Rest)


Well my friend.. I hope you loose your pounds as fast as you can take..
Disciple is the key!! Just make it happen! I know you will!
Remember you can take your pace at loosing weight.. Just be happy and eat at a moderate rate!
