My husband ProudTexan asked me to join. I have been working on losing weight for a little over a month now. I have lost 15 lbs.

Recently I have developed a severe dairy allergy, so I have had to cut out all dairy products, including soy.

Dairy allergy must be a bummer. I have trouble with gas sometimes when I eat it. Welcome from a fellow newb!

Thank you for the welcome Tera and Trusylver.

I wish I only had gas with dairy, Tera! Geee, I never thought I would hear myself wishing for gas.. :rotflmao: I am quite the dairy lover and this allergy I developed is very difficult on me. If I even have small amounts I become very ill and start having severe abdominal cramps, vomitting, and sweating (while feeling hot). It is a horrible experience. I'd rather have another c-section than this stuff.

Wow! Our stats are very similar. I finally lost some weight. Down to 227. No more 230's...yeah!!! You mentioned a C-section. I have had 2 of those myself. 2 kids, 2 c-sections. First one was an emergency, second planned. You?

I have had three kids and 2 by c-section. The second and third were both planned c-sections. The second was breeched and I began getting signs of toxemia near the end. The third was normal lie, but also began signs of toxemia. I have a septate uterus, which can make things difficult. :)

I reply to your second post that I did not quote..... my journal is here:

Thank you for the welcome. :) I am German-American.

My problems are not with the lactose. Based upon what happens to me, we suspect it might be the casein in the dairy. The doctor I spoke with hasn't tested me or anything. The diagnosis is just based upon my symptoms when I consume dairy.

I have been trying some milk alternatives such as Almond Milk and Rice Milk. I have been starting to look for other diary alternatives in other products. There ins't too much. The Rice milk company also makes things like rice milk ice cream. I haven't tried it yet. There is a pizza in our gorcery store that has no cheese-- and it is good. I am slowly learning to cope. Although not very well at times. Like today I ate a tiny piece of cheese!!!! It can be so hard for me to resist dairy at times. Then I always get extremely ill, and mad at myself for having given in.

I am certainly open to dairy free recipes and suggestions from people!:hug2:
