Hello! My name is Jevan, but you can call me Jev. I am 27 years old, 5'10" and 155 lbs. I played sports since age 6 and currently on a softball team for the city, so I have somewhat of an athletic build. My muscles aren't big, but I am toned (pecs, 6 pack abs, etc.) We play once a week for a couple of hours, but this is about the only exercise I've been getting for the past few years. I've been trying to jog about 3 miles a day for the past week. I recently came down with some kind of weird anxiety I've never had in my life. Doctors are telling me to eat healthy, exercise and take a medicine they prescribed me with. I have been eating healthy for the past month. I've cut down a lot of my sugar intake, too. I haven't had a soda for about a month now and I've only been drinking juices and lots of water. Like I said, I also started jogging about 3 miles a day. Well, I started out walking and then slowly progressed into jogging about half a mile then walking, then jogging a half a mile, then walking the rest of the way home. I can't put on a full jog for 3 miles straight because I start to feel tired and dizzy after a half a mile or so. So far it is helping a lot. I haven't had any attacks in the past week, so that's good. However, I don't take the medicine the doctors prescribed me with because the side effects are horrible and make me feel like a zombie most times. I am trying to find a way to cure it by not having to take medication.
The real reason I'm here is to ask how much exercise is necessary for the average person? I don't need to lose weight and I don't necessarily want to gain more weight either. I don't want to become Arnold Schwarzenegger or anything. I just want to make sure my heart and brain (most of all) are both healthy. Is playing softball once a week and jogging daily a good way to start? Should I keep jogging daily or can I cut it down to every other day?
