Hi everyone. I'm new to this board and just wanted to write an intro. I am a 44 y/o female from Louisiana. To make a very long story as short as possible, up until a couple of years ago I was very physically fit, working out at the local gym 4x a week. I have had some serious medical problems in the past several years including 3 brain operations for an inflammatory process and just underwent 12 radiation treatments. I have also been on prednisone for many years, but am weaning down and am now at 12.5 mg a day. I had to quit my gym membership as the last week of December I developed double vision and now have very decreased vision in my right eye as well, so I'm considered "visually impaired," but I am determined not to let this stop me from being as fit as I can be. I am looking into a good home elliptical (considering the Precor EFX 5.17i) and we own a Bowflex already, so hopefully can get back on track. I already watch my diet very carefully as I know too many people who really struggle with weight when taking corticosteroids. Also, the weight distribution for those taking this medication is primarily abdominal/upper body/face and I feel a lot of it is fluid type weight. My goal is to get back to my pre-illness weight of 105-110 pounds (I am 5'4" and currently 117 pounds). Lots of good information here, so hopefully I can get some guidance to help with my goal.
