Hey everyone! Im new to this forum. Im a 24 yr old female. Ill start off by saying I dont have a lot of weight to lose. I Have gained about 15lbs in the last year since my boyfriend and I started dating. He is 6'5" and Im 5'5" and I noticed from the moment we started dating I began eating more because he eats more often than I use to, he also eats higher calorie foods than I once did including his love of MT. Dew which he drinks about 3-5 a day. This is fine for him, although unhealthy I know, I tell him this. However he still is a thin 195 which is good for his height. I however cannot eat this way and its causing me to steadily gain more weight. Once apon a time up until about the age of 20 I couldnt gain weight for the life of me. I was perpetually stuck at 100 lbs and I wanted to have curves so badly. Oh how I wish to be that way now! haha. About 2 years ago I was at my fittest. I weighed roughly 110-115 lbs and went to the gym about 3-4 days a week ( I did about 20 mins of cardio and then 20 mins weight lifting per day). I did not diet at all but I didnt think about food much either. I dont know how much I ate because it just never crossed my mind to worry about it. Now within the last year I have started to adopt some of my boyfriends unhealthy eating habits. He brings me Mt. Dew sometimes when I get off work even though I have told him I dont need to drink that stuff. I feel bad if I dont drink it and dont want to hurt his feelings, although sometimes I do just say " I dont want it". He also has a tendency to insist I eat by saying things while he's eating like "try this" Me: "no I dont want to" him: " come on just try some" Eventually I give in because in reallity I do want some but I try to say no because I know that is the reason for my weight gain. However, after someone pressures you that much its hard not to give in! I looked up each of our "maintenence level calories" because I saw something about it on here and his is DOUBLE what mine is. Granted I dont eat as much as he does all the time but I do eat close to it lol. Anyway right now I weigh 130 ish (I dont really know because I dont own a scale) and I want to lose 15 lbs and get back into my former shape by exercising and some calorie control. The real breaking point for me was yesterday I went clothes shopping and I couldnt fit into the size I thought I was ( I use to be a size 1/2 and now am more like a 4/5 ish) which was a size 4, they were so tight I couldnt button them. I know this sounds stupid to some people because many people are trying to lose much more weight, but I am so unhappy with how I look and its making me miserable to think about how I use to look and how I look now. Anyway Im sorry this is so long. Hope to get some tips and support from this forum. Thanks for reading!

Hi EMorgan! That was how I put on my weight in college too, from eating with my BF at the time. I NEVER ate fastfood or drank soda or had junk food in my house, but he was 6'3 and a metabolism machine and could eat/drink whatever he wanted while I packed on pounds. It's no fun. Sounds like you bf is pushing you an awful lot. Explain to him that you are doing something that you feel will be beneficial to your health and he needs to stop pushing things on you that you know you don't need. If he can't support you in this, give him a nice kick in the rear! lol. Good luck!!

Thanks for your reply! Makes me feel a little better to know other people go through this too with their much taller boyfriends lol.
