New here need help losing weight....not vanity lbs either.

Im new here. So basically I gues i will outline my situation and hope that someone can help me out.

I am a 22 year old male. I am 5' 11" tall. Currently I weigh 260. For the past 3 years I havent been able to get below 230. I went up and down several timesnever going past 260. through out my highschool years I weighed prolly between 200 - 220 lbs on average. After that I gained some pounds but it wasnt to noticeable. People have always under guessed my weight. Just the other day a soccer coach guessed I weighd 210.

First off why am I so heavy but dont really look that heavy?

When I weighed 200-220 My physical activity was only slightly greater than it is now. After gaining weight, I started up my physicall activity and avereged between 230-240. Right now my physical activity consists of Tuesday and Thursday Soccer training, I run about 1- 2 miles takes me usually about 15 minutes, then random fitness excersizes and scrimmage. For a total of about 1.5 - 2 hours of physical activity, Then On sundays I have a soccer match.

So heres my problem? I have altered my diet and continue do my workouts but Have not been able to shed any pounds.

So i have considered perhaps taking supplements to help with weight loss. Perhaps any of you know of something safe and that is not drastic, perhaps something that will allow me to train better or perhaps raise my metabolism.

Any help is appreciated.

First off why am I so heavy but dont really look that heavy?

You might just have a build that hides it well or it could be the clothes you wear. Let's not toss aside the possibility that people would simply rather guess on the low end to spare feelings. It's like when guessing someone's age...most people would rather underguess than overguess.

Thats what a few people have said, they say my build hides it, but I dont think it does. If you wanna see some pics of me check out my myspace.

Most people however that dont know me are usually surprised at how athletic I am. Like I mentioned I am a soccer player, I can run a mile in under 8minutes, I can just about rim a standard basketball court, and sprinting, is probably my greatest strength.

Let me cut this down to the areas that really get me. Stomach and Chest. Just by looking at my legs and arms or face you would never guess I weigh that much. I wear 38" jeans XXL when it comes to T shirts.

Ive tried upper body excersizes but havent seen them really work, I did a couple of months or boxing style excersizes cardio and weight training, which was probably the most effective but not very effective.

Lately my diet has been a little screwy, I still have to eat out for lunch during work. Breakfast is usually a bowl of Cereal like Life Cereal, or Kix. Dinner is usually abut half homemade and half take out during the week. Plus the Soda, 12 oz during lunch and 12 oz during doinner( I Know I should stop this). Ive been doing my best at drinking water during the day instead of other things.

Like I said I usually run 1-2 miles Tuesday and thursday, then follow with excersizes tailored for soccer, and then a 30 minute scrimmage. usually comes out to 1.5-2 hours of activity on tuesday and thursday, Sunday = 1 soccer match. I am thinking of enrolling into a kickboxing school they are putting up next to my work for Monday and Friday, workouts.

Basically, I want to look better, I feel good about my ability and athletism, but I dont look the part.

It sounds like you are very active, and that is a great thing. I suspect your diet might be a very problematic area for you. What you need to do is post up, very specifically, what you eat in a day. Specifics are important here, and if you know numbers, calorie totals, that helps even more.

One thing you should look into, is getting into weight training. 3 times a week, after work, hit the gym and do full body workouts. Search the forum here for compound exercises, such as squats, deadlifts, lunges, bench press, dips, pullups, and get familiar. Implement them into a regular routine. With that, your current amount of aerobic exercise, and a very good diet, the fat would melt off of you. Things just have to be put into place and your body WILL respond.

Well thanx for the advise, it helps out, and motivates me. I understand what you say with the diet. Fast food, the main thing, is probably what is dragging me down, along with Soda intake. These are my usual options when it comes to lunchtime here at the office, Jack in the Box, a local Mexican resturant, Bill Millers, Little Cesars Pizza.

I will defintely try and start implementing more of those excersizes and like I said Mondays and Fridays, i think I can Definately add into my work out calender.
