hi everybody,
I am new here of course and i really need your help and support ...

I am a 22 year old male i stand around 150 kg (330 lbs i guess) most of it are at the abdomen & pelvis ... I need to lose around 60kg (130 lbs) hopefully in 6 months to a year... I really never tried to diet before as I am easily tempted ,I always start a diet and end it in a maximum of 2 days ...

Now I am really frustrated and need to lose weight asap ... I thought about liposuction but decided to go without any kind of operations ...

I really need your advice and support on how/where to start the journey ...

thanks in advance,
Qwertymw

Hello Qwerty :) Love your forum name btw. Good news for you, since you said you haven't dieted really. That also means you haven't yo-yo dieted either so you're going to have an easier time than somebody who has. I noticed this with my husband when he started eating healthier the pounds just fell off...well taking into consideration men normally have an easier time of it too.

Well enough of my rambling...here's some useful info. If you check out the sticky threads there's tons of useful info. What most people do is google the Harrison's benedict formula or use another way of figuring out about how many calories on average they burn in a day. Then just cut that down by 500-1000 in order to create a deficit and lose weight. Nothing tricky and after all the diets I've been on this is actually working great for me. I love simple :) You should start a journal in the journal threads here, people stop in and give alot of support.

Also you may want to check out fitday.com, a really useful tool. Somebody told me there's a calculator there like I mentioned but I didn't find it. But what I used it for is to input my food and it runs my calories for me, pretty cool. Some people use sparkpeople instead which is also nice...I just happened to start with fitday first. Welcome to the forum and good luck :) ~Lisa

Good day Qwertymw! (What is your name from anyway? I feel like I should know this but don't...)

Douknowjello gave you some great tips, so I won't, what I want to tell you is not to beat yourself up when you stumble, it's inevitable, but it does not necessarily have to derail you, constantly look for support and motiviation. Settle for nothing less than your best, I heard some very good advice once. The only excuse you should have for not working out is if you are legitimaly sick. Hmm, well...

What else? I could give you one too many quotes, inspiration and what not, but what I'm going to leave with you is this.

Take some before pictures, it will keep you motivated throughout, even if you hate looking at yourself, it's a good tool to look at when you're going through this change. Write in a journal, a suggestion mentioned and one that I highly recommend. Set goals for yourself, long term and short term. (Realistic goals!!!) Shoot for a pound or two a week; slow, consistent weight loss is maintainable weight loss! The BEST advice I've ever had?? You must do this for yourself. Not for that guy that stood you up in the 7th grade, or the girl that laughed at you when you were 17. Do it for you! It is the most satisfying thing that you will do for yourself.

Once you get out of a 'fat' mindframe, it's literally like the clouds have parted and you can see clearly. You are YOU, only you can be you, take care of number one, right? Like yourself for WHO you are, not what you are. Ten pounds or two hundred pounds, it doesn't matter, find the balance inside, find happiness in yourself, and the rest will follow suit.

All the best,
Cat

Hey Cat...not sure if there is something more significant to the reference but look at your keyboard :) Says Qwerty on the first row...used to have another friend with that name, love it, lol.

Qwerty,

I am a Personal Wellness Coach and just like Lisa was saying it is very important to watch the number of calories that you are eating a day and make sure that you are not skipping any meals. You need to eat a colorful and balanced meal.

If you would like more information, I would love to talk to you further in greater detail.
