New here...Hello!

Hello everyone,
I'm new here, but not new to weight training.
I'm 46yrs old and I've been back in the gym now going on one year...after about a 20yr sittin on my duff...becoming a fat butt, sebatical!

I re-entered the gym a year ago at 265lbs...sloppy and soft. I'm at 225lbs now and just now starting to see the old me. Unfortunately at 46 it's REAL hard to build muscle.

I trained seriously when I was in my 20's, and to say the least it was a lot easier at that age! My routine(3sets 10reps) bench was 225lbs...routine squat was 315lbs and now I'd be lucky to push one rep at 185lbs on either exercise! Man! It's hell gettin old.... :(

Anyway, you guys got any advice for an old man trying to rebuild and save what's left of a tired but still kinda there hard body?

Thanks

Welcome to the community!

evolution is exactly right. You're making gains and hitting it again. Stay consistant and check your diet. You'll be back to your ripped self in no time.

loads of protein but I guess you know that, and take it slowly as you get older you're more prone to injuries and that would set you way back

Thanks men,
I appreciate the positive attitude and help...
As far as injuries, no truer words were ever spoken. I find myself wrything in pain at least once a month from pushing to hard. Just injured my trap last week from pushing too far and a month before that it was my right knee. It's gonna take some time for me to adjust to the fact that this body is NOT the same one I had 20yrs ago.

BTW, I would highly recommend to ALL of you young guys out there to never lay off longer than you absolutely need to! Your muscle has memory but, it takes a lot more to remind it of what it was when you let it go to s_ _ _ for a long time like I did!
