New here- Grape Cure!

This is my first time posting so please bear with me if I'm doing something wrong. I'm just trying to find someone out there that may have some advice for me. :)

I am currently doing the mono grape diet (based off of Johanna Brandt's grape cure treatment for cancer). This is my 3rd time doing this diet and I can safely say that every time I have lost between 5-10 pounds by eating only grapes and drinking water (for no more than 3 weeks at the most). In fact, I don't regain any of the weight after returning to my normal diet. The first time I've tried this I lost approx. 1 pound/day. Now, I lose about 0.5 pounds a day.

I'm 5'2 and currently weighing in at about 105.5 pounds...I started 4 days ago at 108.5. I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced the success I have had with this mono diet and if there were any side effects (I have a slight fever right now, but not sure if that's from the dieting or not)

wait..what weight are you aiming for?? .5 pounds a day at your current weight is WAY too much too fast. The recommended is 1 percent of your body fat a week and you are doing almost three times that. I don't think anyone here can support this sort of crash diet.

Why are you trying to lose weight??? With your stats, your BMI is 19.2! Another 5 lb loss and you will be considered underweight.

I don't think this is a crash diet per-say. it's more of a detox or a cleanse, and is supposed to be good for you as long as you do it within a short amount of time. As for my weight, I have a small bone structure and frankly don't think the whole BMI applies to me because I used to be 120 pounds and my family doctor told me I was overweight (even though according to those online calculators I was well within the range)

I believe this might be a more accurate depiction of a good BMI ratio:

Well it is a crash diet to lose that much that fast but if you want to talk detox or cleanse..well I can point you to a TON of scientific studies and information that says that is basicly hogwash. You can actually harm your body with this stuff.

If you are trying to lose weight, this really isn't the right way. If you are interested in a more sustainable weight loss lifestyle, we have many stickied posts that can help you.

.....eating only grapes and drinking water............

Grapes + water only? You're crazy. No wonder you're a yo-yo dieter.

Any 'diet' that you're not capable of carrying on with indefinitely WILL fail. In fact I think ALL diets are doomed to fail. Only a lifestyle change will work.

Wow, eating only grapes for 3 weeks sounds very unhealthy. Grapes don't have many of the nutrients your body needs to live. By the way, if you don't eat protein your body is going to take protein from your muscles and organs.

You won't get the kind of weight loss you want: fat loss. Since you're thin already, a lot of that weight loss will be coming from muscle and organs.

Why not just eat a diet that has all the nutrients you need for being healthy, but if you feel you must lose weight eat fewer calories than you require?

Understand we are not trying to attack you here, but I think you are in the wrong forum. We don't support detox or crash dieting. Most of us here are overweight..you aren't. I don't know what doctor or person said you was but you are not. I would suggest you speak to another doctor, family, someone who can give you the help and advice that I really do not feel we can give you.

I think because this person has a history of doing this kind of a diet, it's possible they lost a lot of muscle and put on fat, and so now has a high body fat percentage and because fat is twice the size of muscle per pound looks fatter than their weight number would suggest they should.

Obviously the solution to this would be building muscle and that includes eating protein...

The whole detox/cleanse idea is a myth.

Whether it be the grape diet, chocolate diet, banana diet, whatever diet...the only reason its been working was because you took in fewer calories than you were burning by eating a healthy snack...unfortunately you're only consuming the same benefits and nutrients which also means you're severally limiting yourself to other nutrients which in turn is extremely unhealthy.

My great uncle was on a grape diet for 56 odd years.
And he only consumed it in liquid form.

Of course it was fermented and he died an alcoholic....
