New here and in need of encouragment I

suppose. I started into a great lifestyle of fitness and exercise back in Oct. 2008. I walked just under 500 miles in as many months. I developed what I believe to be runners knee even though I only walked. I think it is ilitobial band syndrome from what I can find online. I have no ways or means to see a doctor and get a professional opinion so please don't suggest it. It just discourages me more that I can't afford it. No health insurance and truly, no cash. Maybe hard for some to "get that" but when I say no cash, I mean zero. I am working hard to change that but I so miss my exercise. I tried doing Walk Away the pounds dvd but that too put too much weight on my knee.

To explain my symptoms, I have zero pain unless I rub up against the outside of my left knee area. I even have to be careful when pulling on jeans. The feeling is a severe burning pain and it can bring tears to my eyes. It stops hurting in a few seconds. I have iced it 3 times a day and still, not better.

Has anyone experienced this and did it get better? Any help would be so appreciated. I had lost 10 lbs and now feel it is so hard to "not" burn those calories. I am staying at my weight, not gaining but it is only a matter of time. I am 56 and had had so many aches and pains that totally disappeared after starting my new lifestyle. Now some are coming back.

I do know I need to get to a doctor as soon as possible, but until I can I am just looking for others that might be able to give me some hope.

Thank you in advance, denise

PS I am 5'2" and 127. I never was way overweight but it has been very hard to earn those 10 lbs lost.
