Hey guys!

Basically, I'm 26, Ive been overweight all my life, no idea what I weight probably 350-400 pounds, Just got out of the hospital with a near death experience (Had nothing to do with my weight) and decided oh a LIFESTYLE OVERHAUL. Came home, threw out FULL BAGS of cookies pop chips, bought a bunch of healthy food, set a plan up for 5 days a week of swimming 3 days a week of 1 hour cardio workouts at the gym) and walking in between it all, I am here for support, accountability, and advice from those with experience. a few of my beginner questions are,

At my size, what is my daily allowed calories:

When should I STOP working out, when my heart hurts? or when I sweat?

Food recommendations? Diet? I bought lots of salmon and almonds and chicken today.

Weekly Loss goal? What is average? what is reachable?

Nice to meet you all and look forward to being friends.

Hey! I'm new here as well but welcome! I can't answer all of your questions, but hopefully I can give you some advice. As for food recommendations, I'm going to state the obvious, which is not to forget fruits and vegetables. They make great snacks to calm a grumbling stomach. Plus, you can have fun cooking them different ways. As for working out, sweating is normal and it shows that you're working hard (or if it's a hot temperature) but if you're heart is hurting, I would stop and take it easy. It's great to push yourself, but just make sure you learn your limits so you don't put yourself in danger. Something that I found really helpful is keeping a food diary or journal. (online or written) It helps to have a visual aide that shows you exactly how many calories you are consuming. If you're worried, you can always ask your family doctor. Good luck! I love your determination

Congratulations! what a great move, to go home and make the decision to change.

Have you had a check up? I would be asking those questions of your doctor, as I don't believe we should ever work until our 'heart hurts' - sweating isn't a bad thing.

Average men should be eating a minimum of 2,000 calories per day. You should try and eat for the size of man you want to be and not think, I'm a big guy, I need ALOT of food. But by the foods you mentioned, you are definately on the right track.

As you move, you will burn fat quicker b/c of your size. Aim to lose 10% of your weight, and focus on those increments. Please don't overdo it. By making small changes in both your exercise and eating habits, you are already changing your health from the inside out.

MORE WATER! How is your sleep? Have a good night's rest to give you the stamina you need to stay active.

That salmon is a great choice. Try and ensure you are eating vegetables with that, both cold and steamed.

Eat healthy snacks when the need arises. I like a handful of almonds, raw vegetables, etc.

Last and certainly not least. Stay positive. Go to bed at night with positive thoughts about what you are doing and VISUALIZE what the new you looks like. Hold that vision in your mind and revel a little in how great you look, pretend you have already reached your goals. Your cells are literally awaiting your next instructions so keep checking on what you are telling yours.

Feel free to add me as a friend for further accountability.

Cheers Seny
