New guy, here

Hi, I'm Adam. I was looking for a forum to ask some questions since I'm in an unusual situation. I'm 5'9" and a couple years ago I was looking pretty fit at 220 lbs. My arms, legs, and shoulders are very toned, but I'm up to 270 lbs now and have developed quite a gut to lose. I work overnights in a factory, lost of heavy lifting, 5 days a week, 12 hour shifts, I get a 30 minute break about 6 hours in, and a couple of 10 minute breaks. When I do have lunch, it's the middle of the night, so I've been going to the 24 gas station and eating two hot dogs and drinking a cup of coffee or soda every work night for the past two years. When I get home, I have a tv dinner and head to bed. I don't eat breakfast because I can't even find an appetite when I wake up in the morning. I'm pretty much always tired and no matter how much more or less I try to eat, my weight stays locked in place. I'm really not sure what to do at this point.

You are over-eating. Keep track of your food intake for about a week and let us know what it is. Alcohol, sauces, snacks, eating out etc.

Hi i am new here and just join the fitness forum.

Over weight is such a big issue in these days. A good or bad health depend upon our diet and exercise so just maintain diet

and start doing exercise. You will see changes by your self.

Adam, it really sounds like your job is taking a heavy toll on your energy and health. It's great news that you want to do something about it, and you definitely can, since you've previously been really healthy and fit.

The first thing is to get the motivation to start losing weight, bc it takes a lot of effort!

Here's an exercise which might help. Write out the following in a chart:

1. What are the pros and cons of staying at the weight you are now? (eg a pro can be 'more time to sleep, less time spent cooking').

2. What are the pros and cons of getting healthy? (eg a pro can be 'more energy').

Once you've written it all out it'll help you see clearly what's holding you back, and what can serve as your motivation.

Cheers mate! I wish you all the best.
